Hi there, this year's Wimborne Folk festival weekend in Dorset runs from Friday 12th June to Sunday 14th June 2009 and as part of this years festival we are proud to announce that the world famous Boundary Marquee will be back on the cricket ground with some of the best local bands to compliment this year's festival. Check out the official Boundary Marquee site here: Boundary Marquee

Hope to see you there.....

It is worth noting however that the Boundary Marquee does attract some 2000+ additional festival goers into the town and to the Wimborne Folk festival itself. I would argue that bringing these additional people who might not normally go to the festival is contributing financially (indirectly) to the folk festival.

However it should also be noted that the Boundary Marquee organiser has always contributed 'pennies' to the Folk Festival where many other venues do not!

May I suggest that you check your sources of information before you post such a damning reply!

For those who don't know, the Wimborne weekend has several aspects to it.

In no particular order..

a - The folk festival official. VERY folk based at venues in the town, but in actual fact a small part of the entertainment.

b - The Street ENtertainment - mostly Morris/Clog Dancers from across the Country - you can't move for hey-nonney-no's

c - The Mister Gardens - a Village Fete type affair, with stalls, WI etc ( I doubt they contribute to the Folk Festival either) - there are also festival type stalls dotted in areas across town.

d - The pub entertainment. In many of the pubs around the town there are marquees/stages where great bands can be seen. Pronghorn are always around somewhere and their gigs ALWAYS get to the point where its one in-one out. Most pubs charge about £5 to get in - some more some less depending on time/bands etc. B&B's and camping are mostly booked up by now ( but there may be a few places left).

And ( in order to not let an opportunity go by) Endorse it are putting on an event at Paw Paws ( click for directions )on the Saturday night, featuring Pronghorn, The Boot Hill All stars, Cash Converted, Who's Afear'd + other special guests - more details will follow nearer the time.

We also have another event in Wimborne this weekend at The White Hart - £3 on the door!!

Endorse it mini-festival 09

However, blatant plugging aside and to get back on topic, the whole town of Wimborne cashes in on the festival weekend and this makes it much more than the sum of its parts - its a very Dorset day(s) out and long may it continue

This years Folk Festival's Boundary Marquee will include the world famous 60ft main bar with the additional 40ft bottle bar adjacent to the main marquee. Also included this year for the first time will be the PIMMS bar for all you discerning gentlemen and ladies who like to go out in the midday sun. This year the 'Jagermeister' girls will also be out in force with shots to get you in the mood. All this along with the real Ale and Cider Fest makes for a great weekend out.

For when you get hungry a full BBQ running throughout the weekend within the compound itself will ensure that any appetite is served...

The Boundary Marquee promotes sensible drinking at all times for further information please visit: www.drinkaware.co.uk

Hi again...

Well if you have checked your facts 100% then you should find that we have contributed every year to the 'OFFICIAL' as you call it Folk Festival itself. I do not wish to argue the point too much but feel that your statement/s are highly critical and to be honest quite offensive in light of the fact that we DO actually contribute every year! If you check back with whom ever your contact is and get them to contact us we would gladly provide evidence of this fact.
