Dont think they're blowing it out of proportion to distract you from the economic crisis?

Dont think that even though probably hundreds of thousands of people have got it in Mexico and surrounding areas, only 20 people have confirmed to have died from it?

Dont think that the people who have died from it, were:

A.) Dying anyway

B.) Malnourished and not of A1 health due to their surroundings

C.) In a f**king shit middle of nowhere third-rate hospital

D.) Taken by utter surprise

We are on high alert about it, we're prepared, we've got one of the best health services in the world, we have a generally higher standard of living, we're sorted.

So stop moaning about something that hasnt happened yet, remember all the shit about Bird Flu, that was going to wipe us all out "A DEAD SWAN!" etc.

Well it didnt, and neither will this. Another racist useless "celebrity" will get cancer soon and we'll forget about the "swwwwiiiiiiiiiine flu".

Yes it was at first about a refund...but all the flippant comments over something which could lead to huge loss of life just spurred me on. No more comments from me now on swine flu. The refund thing was just to enquire if the insurance made certain of a refund, as i can't see full refunds for people without it,for it would bankrupt Eavis...End of my posts on matter now. ;)

It is quite a hilarious in a dark, cynical way how this has all come about just after G20. I haven't seen a single thing about the 'worst economic crisis since the 1920s' today and I have checked the Guardian website regularly. Nothing like a good war to sort out the economy, or failing a war, panic buying induced by scare mongering.

1 million people die every year due to car accidents, .5 million due to normal flu when bird flu was the big news that we were all going to die from under 300 people worldwide died. So far this seems a very infectious strain of ilness but not that deadly.

Q. Is this just another media health scare? How worried should we be?

A. The truth lies somewhere in between panic and eye-rolling.

Making the jump from animal-to-person to person-to-person transmission is a rare skill for a flu virus to "learn." This ability makes H1N1 swine flu potentially dangerous—and makes the concern about it a bit different from the worries over bird flu, which has yet to make such a transition.

Human-to-human transmission is a big part of why public health officials are pouring resources into swine flu and why they want you to be aware that the virus is out there.

That said, experts like Johns Hopkins's Pekosz and RTI's Layton say there's currently no reason to lock yourself up in the house.

For one thing, the cases outside Mexico have been no more serious than your average flu bug. Right now, nobody is sure why that is. And while the severity of the symptoms could increase, Pekosz said there's not really an immediate, serious threat to individuals within the United States.

"However," he said, "it certainly merits the public paying attention, and it warrants the public health efforts that have been going on in terms of monitoring and research."

i dont think anybody here is under-estimating what could happen

just ;) at some of the 'oh my god, what if glasto's cancelled' comments

i am geniuenly flaberghasted (man, look at that spelling) that these people make it across the road every day of their life

just imagine what goes on inside their heads

'ok, look right, look left, look right again - clear, safe to cross, did i remember to look right again, stop and check, SHIT, bus'

I was trying (look's like not very well) to point out the stupidity of all the ''chicken lickeness'' of it all. Many other higher amounts of deaths worldwide that get ignored as the press/people/goverments get worried about new killer dieseses. Next thing you know people will be worried about dieseses you can pick up from telephone's

I here by trademark chicken lickeness as either something from KFC or a chicken flavoured lolly or a weird side effect of bird flu.
