punkincowcat
I seem to be going on and on about my camping equipment but I just want to get it right and avoid making a wrong decision and ending up with something that doesn't do the job properly or turns out I could have gotten it cheaper elsewhere! Okay well i've got the tent and sleeping bag sorted (hooray!) and now for the inflatable sleeping mat.. i've never bought or slept on one of these in my life but I thought id would be ideal for glasto. I went to a camping shop and had a good look (and feel ) of the thermarests which I was very impressed with.. at 3.8cm thickness I was suprised at how comfty the looked! The only downfall being that they were around £55 and my budget is £30 (including p&p) so I decided to search the internet for a mat with the same thickness of 3.8cm and found this http://www.camperite.co.uk/more/on/details/00185 although the thickness seems to be the same, im not convinced it looks as comfy as the thermarest! What does everyone else think? im really set on an inflating mat.. should I go ahead and buy it or spend more time looking for a better deal? THANK YOU Edited April 29, 2009 by punkincowcat

punkincowcat
Yeah? How comfy is it?
mynameisearl
I've always manged to sleep rather well on it so it must be reasonably comfy, though my senses may also have been numbed by Southern Comfort.

punkincowcat
I didn't think that the thermarest would be so thick, and I double checked to make sure the one I felt was a 3.8cm, I didn't get a chance to lye on it or anything though but I imagine it would be rather comfortable! I think im gonna just go ahead and get it now, thanks for the advice very much appreciated!! have a great glasto

mandypants
If you can get to a Go Outdoors they have a bed filled with stones so you can lay down and try camping mats on them, I thought that was well nifty
Toilet Duck
...this is the thermarest I have for festies where I need to get on a plane (and have to keep the baggage weight down!)...it's exceedingly comfy and only just over your £30 budget.. http://www.gear-zone.co.uk/eshop/Thermarest-Trail-Lite.html Edit: seems to be the same thickness as the one you were looking at too, which I can confirm is very comfy!
