not a chance.

1. I Wanna Be Adored

2. She Bangs The Drums

3. Waterfall

4. Don't Stop

5. Bye Bye Bad Man

6. Elizabeth My Dear

7. (Song For My) Sugar Spun Sister

8. Made Of Stone

9. Shoot You Down

10. This Is The One

11. I Am The Resurrection

look at that collection of songs, each one complimenting the next, the lesser known ones as good as the singles. From start to finish pure class. 7-11 is ridiculously good, those songs plus 6 fillers beat any guitar album of the last 10 years easily.

The Bends, OK Computer and perhaps Definately Mabye have come close but for me and most critiscs it seems...This is the One

and it started a movement....not many albums in the last 20 years have done that...

Meh.

I'm tired of everyone saying "blah blah blah album is the best thing since ever". I don't know about anyone else but I go through phases with albums/artists, one day thinking they are amazing, and then a few weeks later not being hugely bothered about them...

To say it's the greatest album of the last *insert timespan here* is just OTT. Sure, it was a seminal album that spawned countless rip-offs. But to me it's no more substantial than OK Computer, Origin of Symmetry or Nevermind.

Or even some more recent releases which will no doubt go down in history: Hot Fuss, Youth and Young Manhood, Oracular Spectacular... The list continues.

Get over it.

Have all Stone Roses fans got rose tinted ears or something? It's an ok album, but not much more than that. It stood out at the time simply because everything else around that time was so utterly cack. It is not an album which has stood the test of time at all, and was massively sullied by the follow-up and everything that Ian 'Can't Sing Won't Sing' Brown has done since (with the notable exception of FEAR, which is mint).

As for better albums... where to begin????

Since '89??

To name a few (without Morrissey ;) )...

Nirvana - Nevermind,REM - Automatic for the People, Radiohead - OK Computer (or the bends), Massive Attack - Blue Lines, PJ Harvey - Stories from the City/Stories from the Sea, Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane over the Sea, Pearl Jam - 10, Jeff Buckley - Grace, Pulp - Different Class, Blur - Parklife, DJ Shadow - Entroducing, My Bloody Valentine - Loveless....and I could go on. There's loads. Not saying they're all better, it's like comparing apples and oranges, not the same thing...but all great albums in their own right.

Not letting that go. Automatic For The People kicks it all over the shop, as does New Adventures In HiFi. Different Class and This Is Hardcore are both so far out of Brown and Squire's league that it's unreal. Seriously mate, you need to listen to more music.
