ok so getting the coach from doncaster to festival.

departs doncaster at like 2 in the morning and gets to london victoria coach station at 6am and waits there for 3 hours. expected arrival at festival half 12 which is probably going to be later

so im thinking...there's a train from london victora (15 min walk from coach station) at 7.45 that gets to castle cary at 10.15......at a cost of 31pound...

would any1 do this, would we be allowed to get our baggage? and would getting a shuttle bus at this time get us there any sooner? lol is this totally insane?

<_<

It's the sort of thing I'd try in my quest to get there earlier <_< I looked at all combinations before deciding to travel down on the Tuesday!

The walk from Victoria Coach Station to the Train Station is ok without luggage, but a bit of a nightmare with.

I've never taken the shuttle bus (will be this year) someone told me the journey takes about an hour, but sometimes you have to wait about an hour.

I think they start running at 10am, so there will probably be a bit of a queue (me included unless I can find a lift from someone!)

On balance I think it depends how desperate you are to get there as early as possible. You've got the hassle of getting your luggage from VCS to the train station, then from Castle Cary to the shuttle bus and the cost of £31 versus relaxing on the coach and almost certainly arriving later.

Tricky one!

Would you not consider driving and splitting the journey? I do it, and so do plenty others.

Obviously places really close to the site by will be more expensive by now, but you should still be able to get a room somewhere a bit further away from the site for a reasonable price - Gloucester is just off the M5, and the Travelodge there is doing rooms for 30 quid a night.

That way you can do the vast bulk of the driving in late evening, when the roads are relatively clear.

It may also be worth considering getting a room overnight somewhere if you're using public transport - a ridiculously early start just doesn't appeal to me, that's exactly why I stay Tuesday night near the site.
