Travelling to Bristol

Hi guys,

Just got a ticket today - woohoo!!!

We're hoping to travel from Boro to Bristol on the 23rd and stay over night, then head to Glasto on Wednesday early doors. Then head back from Bristol to Boro on Monday morning.

Can anyone suggest any cheap accomodation?

And how does one get from Bristol to Glasto and back? Didn't they used to do a shuttle coach...?

Thanks in advance!

Dunno about cheap accommodation, there's a YHA back packers down by the docks, and another in the full moon pub at the bottom of stokes croft (right by the bus station).

They do usually do a first bus or badgerline shuttle bus from bristol bus station to the festival from early weds morning. It can be embarrassingly bad though, one year it pulled in at the top of Glastonbury town high street and stopped, as the driver thought the festival was probably in the town. We had to navigate him to the site through cheering when he went right and booing when he went wrong for the next two hours. It's reasonably expensive now too as well, used to be like £6 return or thereabouts, now about £20 IIRC.

Also - I've already booked a train from Bristol TM to Middlesbrough on the Monday for 11:30. Will I make it??

I always though they had a shuttle service like Castle Cary

Will I need to book Bristol to Glasto and back travel in advance? Don't want to be left stranded hundreds of miles from home with no money left!!

Don't know on timings, i usually leave on the sunday evening so not sure what the glasto - bristol bus does on monday mornings. All a quick google turns up is their info from 2004 (first bus really are good aren't they) - http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/southwest/...=556&show=1 . Have a dig around on their site though, they may have more stuff on this year up there.

Alternatively, the Bristol - glasto service may now have been taken over by someone else, it's worth a bit of research, and possibly worth booking in advance, although it always used to just be a first come first served kinda thing. Didn't get it last year so not completely up to date with it.

Worth bearing in mind though that it's a good hour/hour and a half bus journey between Bristol and Glasto, possibly more with bad traffic round the site, so allow plenty of time. It's all perfectly do-able, but just need to look at the timing really.

ETA: forgot to mention, the buses also go from Temple Meads too, and back to it.
