I saw them play last summer at Offset and Underage, and they were amazing!! They've got a space on their tour through Glastonbury, and a fantastic new album out, has anyone heard anything firm-ish??

God I really hope so. Listening to the new album right now and its fantastic. Gotta be a good shout for either the John Peel or Park stage (maybe a Thursday slot at the Queens Head aswell).

Yep, was chatting to Felix before they went on stage at the Liverpool O2 Academy last month and he said they were definitely doing Glasto.

not really enjoying that new album, I kind of liked them when they were noisier and more energetic. this album sounds horribly grown up

I think the new album is astonishingly good.

The first 3 tracks are exceptional. The more you listen the more you hear the cute little riffs, and the more the lyrics stick out.

I think the best thing about the Maccabees is the vocal range of the singing. It's traditional (i.e. highs, lows, melodies), song singing, but it feels fresh.

Love it.

Hope they play the park.

i think that's unfair. Sure they have a similar production but the song structures and content are very different, and it sounds distinctly British.

I think it would be a shame ( and dare i say, obnoxiously lazy) for people to dismiss them as such.
