Recording a Skype chat

I want to record and playback a computer voice-chat, as an mp3 say. Is there a way of doing this with Skype? Or indeed another easy-to-use computer chat thingamy like (if they work) Google Talk or MSN?

Or am I going to have to set up a tape player next to my speakers?

If you were on a Mac i'd suggest Garage Band (all the good podcasters use it)

But there must be some freeware out there that lets you do it

I've used it to record stuff off the likes of myspace, took me back to the good old days of tape-to-tape.

i tried to, and it wasnt working. no matter what output method i decided. wanting to record an album from mypsace.

TBH I haven't tried it for a while. Never had any problems though.

used to do it with my computer, not tried it since getting a laptop. theres probably something hidden thats not ticked or something. cannae be bothered hunting for it though.

On the Sype menu bar:

Tools>Extras>Pamela Call Recorder

Havent tried it TSU but that looks like it will do the trick

Thanks all - currently trying to work out why Pamela does not keep the mp3 of a test call after I finish the call - it's there as I record, then it disappears when I stop.

Getting really technical (what I use at work...used )

You could use wireshark

This is a network analysers and you would set it up to capture the stream from the radio thingy.....

It would then have to be converted to RTP and then to WAV

Once WAV you can then do as you will....

However this would take a little know how and also ensure you capturing the correct stream (done by opening the stream headers and checking the IP addresses)

So interesting,but for record Skype i use IMCapture for Skype.It's prog for record audio and video calls.I like this simple prog.
