P.S. And he's completely (no doubt deliberately) wrong on his location and description of the Festival site! We are not at Brune Park School. We are on the playing fields of the Bay House School which is right by Stokes Bay. If Mr Scard can't even get that right, what hope is there for the poor old boy?

For heaven's sakes, stop your juvenile bickering - you're not in the playground now. Just tell poor Paddington where the campsite (might) be, or are you too chicken to tell the truth i.e. that it's on a school playing field 1/2 mile away from the festival, on an old landfill site prone to severe flooding, according to the Environment Agency.

Best of British to you, just don't forget to bring your flippers!

And I'm not a councillor or friend of stokes bay - just an ordinary member of the public who happens to consider other members of the public. I only know this year's festival is in a completely unsuitable venue and I for one won't be attending.

Lets just break this down so we can all understand.

The proposed campsite is only a short walk from the festival site.

The site is licenced to the caravan and camping club for rallies.

The planning officers at Gosport Council have found no reason why permission should not be granted for its use as the camping field for the festival.

In fact they say in their report:

'there will be no difference in planning terms between the site being used by the Camping and Caravanning Club and the current proposal in terms of the impact on residential amenity and as such the requirements of Policy R/DP1 are met'

however on their rejection letter they say:

'The proposed use will result in a large number of people coming and going from the site through a residential area which would result in disturbance to occupiers of the houses in that area and a loss of their residential amenity contrary to Policy R/DP1 of the Gosport Borough Local Plan Review'

Note that one minute its OK with R/DP1 and then its not. That really shows you that the decision was purely Political.

If you click on the 14 07 2009 link here

http://www.gosport.gov.uk/sections/democra...d/agendas/2009/

it will open a pdf file which details the planning officers recommendation (page 29 to 32 of the pdf).

I am not going to start in on Medina. The facts are here, in the preceding message links, to be considered by all interested parties.

However FACTS are facts.

FACT: The campsite planning application was for 500 vehicles, with occupants. Camping on such a scale requires proper management and disturbance was one of those management issues: not the fact of campers, but the regular mass transit to and from the camp site. There was also an issue over the probable mass movement, twice per day, of 500 venicles between the two sites. This would have required Police Traffic control at five positions along the route and at alternative junctions (see objections).

FACT: The "short walk" from the proposed campsite to the Festival Site is 1.7 miles. (measure it on Google Earth, as I did).

FACT: The alternative site is larger and not in close proximity to housing. It does not require a license. It is subject to simple commercial agreement between Event Organiser and Council.

FACT:: The alternative, offered, is 0.4 miles from the Festival Site.

As usual you are all missing the point. The planning application for the school field in Gomer Lane to be used for car parking and camping HAS BEEN REFUSED by Gosport Borough Council. If Medina tries to use it as a camp site he will be breaking the law and will have to suffer the consequences.

It was his cavilier attitude at last year's council meeting that has led him to be disqualified as a borough and county councillor for the next two years.
