Stokes Bay Festival 2009

Great to see some more positive posters on this board recently. I speak as one of the grey hoardes planning to descend upon Stokes Bay and wilfully spend money in the local economy, drive my car as little as possible (it at all), drink the odd beer or two and dare to have a good time! I've even camped on a school field before! Its quite common a folk festivals you know! I am conscious of what a small minority of people actually post on these boards either in a positive or negative way. I am sure that the vast majority will arrive and depart the festival in blissful ignorance of this heated debate. More power to your elbow Medina - don't be distracted by the naysayers - its been great for the last two years and I'm sure it will be again this year rain or shine. :lol:

Just taken delivery of the keys and set foot on both fields. Gorgeous in the sunshine with a fox lazing in one corner of the campsite field near the stream. First infrastructure arrives over the weekend so will try to post some photos here as the site starts to take shape.

I guess it'll be an interesting time, over the next few days.

I shall be putting my feet up and enjoying my free time with my grand children and not a care in the world.

We shall see who is telling the truth as the scenario unfolds.

Having checked with my INFORMED contacts, NO agreements have been made with the Police.

Probably no-one. They just make it up.

Our main stage 'Big Top' arrived onsite at 9.30 this morning. The tent pegs are going in as I write. It's a gorgeous day with the sun shining and the fields look great. All we need now is for lots more people to buy tickets and come and enjoy five days of great live music at one of the safest and most relaxed festivals of the summer. :D

Following comments from oldgrumpify saying that his posts are quote "factual", I thought I would post a map from Google showing the walking distance from the Car Park to the festival site, which he claims is 1.7 miles.

Map.jpg

The actual answer is 0.65 miles which for regular festival goers is on par with Larmer Tree and Guilfest. It is a lot less than Trowbridge and there is no hill to walk up at the end of the night! As a local resident I look forward to seeing you all enjoy yourself at this years festival.

Well done Gomer - I'd been thinking for a while 'why doesn't someone just post a map' - beyond my pc knowledge mind you!!

I suppose Olgrumpytwat will now dispute your route.

I wish Peter etc. all the luck in the world - 12 out of 10 for effort, giving out flyers in person at one in the morning outside Larmer Tree - I salute you!) - just wish I could go (fiscal restraint an' all)

What I have have found quite eye opening is the lack of knowledge and common sense amongst the "Protesters". Without the correct facts,it's pretty difficult to have a cogent ,sensible discussion.

As some of the more vocal ones are actually members of the Council or at least appear to be having their strings pulled by Councillors, I feel sorry for the majority of the good people of Gosport who have these people representing them.

:):D WARNING NIMBY SYNDROME OUT-BREAK :D:O

SYMPTOMS INCLUDE;

* One narrow worldview

* Psychotic tendancies & beliefs that they are a group when they only represent themselves.

SECONDARY-STRAINS INCLUDE;

ATOMIC NIMBY (Tiny details become obsessed fields of thought)

CRYPTIC NIMBY (Their subject is a complete mystery)

FANATICAL NIMBY (The interest extends beyond their own back Scard)

:):) FANTASTIC LINE-UP, GREAT NEW LOCATION WE KNOW IT WELL! CAN'T WAIT!!! SEE YOU ALL THERE :D:):)
