i've not ever known anybody not go who's wanted to, even people who've booked the week running up to the festival.

but a word to the wise - the original sale went on for nearly 20 weeks :D

maybe start depositing shrapnel into your copper jar on 30th june this year and you'll be a happy chap this time next year.

sure for goods over 100 quid using a credit card can be a good idea, as you're covered - whereas withg a debit card you aren't

i agree, if credit cards were allowed, then the fees paid to credit card companies would be massive, don't let the greedy banks make even more money!

Not quite the same thing tbh. I'm not sure I follow your logic about use of credit cards? Is that a general disagreement with them? I like the additional legal protection from credit cards and the security from separation from my main bank account. I always use credit cards for booking airlines for example, even with the surcharge.

Credit card companies are evil, in my humble opinion. However, I know many people who rely on them but that's their choice.

My thoughts are that if Glastonbury offered credit card bookings then the credit card companies would end up making as big a profit (from commission or from surcharges) from Glastonbury as the charities do. That would go against the grain as the festival doesn't exist to make corporations profits.

When I have been broke in the past I have drawn cash on my credit card and paid it into my bank account so that I can use my debit card to buy tickets. I only did it once but it was the only way to be ready for Tday. I know it's totally irresponsible and stupid but that was the only way so I did it.

If someone would have the money in a couple of weeks time anyway - they could pay it off before the cash interest kicks in as long as the card isn't already loaded.

Oh - and people have really wanted to go and not got tickets - in 2005 I tried everything from Tday to the Friday morning it started and nothing worked for me - so it isn't just about how much you want it. However, this year seems a bit easier than it was back then - so I'd still hold out hope for those still trying.

The fee for a debit card transaction is around 40 pence.

The fee for a credit card transaction is around 2% of the transactions total value.

By accepting only debit cards, Glastonbury are able to keep the transaction fees far lower. That;'s Michael Eavis doing everyone yet another favour - he cares for his customers!!!

He doesn't have to do that. He could say "f**k it, I don't care". But he does care - all power to him!!
