Petition for Brothers to make 500ml Festival Strength in Plastic Bottles!

Every year I end up getting a cardboard carrier for 3-4 pear ciders at least once a day, but often run out when I’m miles away, or there’s some serious spillage! So I end up having to drink an alternative =\

The 2 litre plastic bottles in 2007 were great, but it’s understandable you’re not allowed to do these anymore. The plastic bottles you could buy from the supermarkets last year were good. But it wasn’t festival strength! If people are buying it in a plastic bottle surely the main reason would be to take to a festival!?

Nothing compares to festival strength on draft, so I think for most Brothers fans it would still by far be the drink of choice, it would just be nice to carry round a spare 4 bottles in your rucksack for the times your not near the Brothers stall or for when your in a crowd and a cup isn’t practical!

Anyone else agree or am I in the minority!?

Its probably cheaper and easier on the environment. Plastic can be recycled but it needs to come from oil in the first place, where as card comes from trees which makes it a more sustainable source.

On another note are you the Chris TT that was support for Frank Turner? :P

The problem with plastic bottles is that they don't compress. This means they are stupendously more problematic for the site's refuse system, vs. paper cups. Much more bin capacity requirements, vehicle movements etc.

A deposit scheme wouldn't solve much of that either, unfortunately.

I wish there was a good solution though. Carrying a few cold ones in your pack is indeed a good thing. :P

You could always take a big bottle with you and a funnel, buy a load of cups worth and decanter in to the bottle to take around with you. The bottle can squish down flat when empty to use again later.

Just don't get the cider funnel confused with the missus' shewee. Ew.

@Dukeicon, naa unfortunately im I’m not Chris T-T, lol

@Kyhenni that was the plan last year, I did it once, made such a mess I gave up. I had one of the drink back packs too, that was good till the cider went totally flat, plus drinking it through the straw mouth piece thing was kind of weird.

@dacbo, if that is the case it’s awesome news :P, I’ll be trying to source some for Glasto, only ever seen the festival strength in the glass bottles and I drink the stuff in a lot of pubs in and around Bristol!

Recycling wise, surely it’s no different them selling the plastic 4% stuff in Tesco/Asda that everyone was buying for Glasto last year, than them selling the nicer tasting 7%?
