I work in Insurance !

With regards to Swine Flue , as said the Festivals Insurance should cover the cost of the ticket

if they had to cancel it. When we had foot and mouth , Glasto took a year out anyway !. If Glasto were not insured against it I guess they would re schedule rather than pay back all the ticket money.

Even if you had Travel Insurance , disinclination to travel would not covered , so you could not claim

if you did not want to go in case you caught Flu on site.

Personally I would always advise you have Travel Insurance , but for Glasto you could prob do without and just risk it. If you were hiring a car and booking hotels for the way down it would be safer to have it. But if you are driving down in your own car , prob not.

The insurance terms and conditions say they will not cover you if..

# If you are unable to attend the event due to any epidemic of diseases such as but not limited to SARS, Avian Flu, Tuberculosis, Hemorrhagic Fevers (including Ebola and Marburg), Meningitis, Measles, Mumps or Rubella.

# In the event there is an influenza pandemic and the World Health Organization has raised the threat level to "Phase 5".

I don't know if that only applies if you can't go because you have swine flu, or if the festival is cancelled because of it, but i would think if it were canceled we'd get a refund.

Insurance is such a con, in some cases its important car (obv), home etc, and some exotic travel, but generally I think insurance companies are trying to get people to take out insurance on everything so they feel safe. Its just not necessary.
