Shall we jsut start a thread for any band we want to play??? Or shall we start a thread when we have info on a band. At the moment there are far to many "stab in the dark" threads. Everyday there are about 10 different posts about bands that no one cares about cus no one has heard of them or bands, such as cypress hill, who have almost no chance of playing (correct me if I am wrong). Yes it would be good if they played, but no they are not.

Rant over.

how is the person who asked about cypress hill going to know they have little or no chance of playing?

if u dont ask then you dont get.

To be honest....it would be a good way of finding out if there is definitely no chance of a certain band playing.

E.g. If it was something like this:

Q: Any info on Radiohead playing?

A: No, they are an exclusive to Reading

...

But unfortunately its more like this (completely useless):

Q: Any info on Radiohead playing?

A: No idea, but would be amazing if they did!

Or this (annoying):

Q: Any info on Radiohead playing?

A: What a complete pile of crap band, I'd rather have sex with my dead mother-in-law than listen to those w*nkers

You misunderstood what I mean....

Take an example band...Mystery Jets (just noticed a thread about them).

They aren't on the rumours list because there is no rumour saying they might play.

However Neil might have some info saying they aren't playing, or someone else may have heard they couldnt play for whatever reason.

The rumours list say who might play, it doesn't say who CANNOT play.

i agree with what your saying sort of. but if there not on the rumour list there is 99% certain they won't play. if they are playing and not on it then there is a reason that Neil hasn't put them on and he won't tell you if they are. so that means that if mystery jets aren't on the rumours list then by asking on here you won't find out if they are playing, you could find out if someone says they are on tour or playing at another festival, etc. but is it really that hard to find the information out for yourself.

edit: if they are playing and they are a suprise that no one knows about then Neil (or anyone else) won't be able to say.

Okay lets make up a band, call them Band A.

Band A are free on the weekend of Glastonbury but not on the rumours list, however you are hoping they play.

You ask here if anyone knows anything about them playing.

Someone says that they read a quote saying they aren't playing/have a disagreement with the organisers/an exclusive to another festival etc.

There are a whole host of reasons why a band might not play a festival other than tour dates.

yes there a load of reasons why a band wouldn't play and i think that a lot of these reasons can be found using the internet. even if its just the efestivals site search function. by using it i have reasoned which bands might play, will play, won't play.

and a lot of the threads don't ask, as you said. It just " I'd love to see them there"

But how would you have found it on the search function if there wasnt a thread of that nature to begin with?

I agree there are too many of these pointless threads, what I suggest is a single 'sticky' thread where people can enquire about any bands availability. Don't know how successful it would be...
