I have read that on entry you are provided with fire wood-For burning presumably,

Now....do folks have individual fire pits or generally several large ones?

there are several large wood piles around the site, you can take as much as you like for your fire.

make sure you get in early though, it's usually all gone by wednesday night.

So can we just make a fire by our tent? From the pics we've seen there doesn't seem much space between tents

Where's the free wood?? I've never seen free wood. I WANT FREE WOOD.

From what I remember you can get two bags for a tenner, which can last the weekend.

I always get a nice pile of fire wood on wednesday and then top it up with a couple of bought bags.

You can have a fire next to your tent as long as there is room. The stewards patrol the campsites and will come and check that your fire is safe.

I always forget about the wood piles. So exciting getting onsite, camp up, then I go for a wander, start the first beer, next thing I know, it's Thursday!

So I've relied on the wood stall near The Other Stage for wood; and I've taken a few of those wax-wood firelog things.

I have spotted a huge pile at the side of the old railway line near Pennards which may be okay for you. Had gone by Thursday though!

i think it varies where the woodpiles are (although there normally seems to be some on the railway). last year there was a huge pile in the field to the (northish)west of the Park, the year before there was a big pile in pennards.....

but the stuff from millets will do anyway if you dont get in there quick enough

Last year there was a huge pile round by where the hedge turns right as you come down the track away from the farmhouse towards the pyramid stage, below where the power lines cross over it.

It was getting well collected by the monday and tuesday before gates opened though, and was pretty much all gone by the end of wednesday.

i know there's at least one big pile on the railway line, i think there's more up at the north end of the site, up near the farmhouse somewhere?

but it disappears very quickly.

Last year there was a massive pile of wood in the campsite to the east of pennards (to the left as you look at the other stage).

I'm hoping to get some fire wood this year!

Bring a fire drum if you can. Those fold out barbies work a treat if you are a small camp. on the other hand will have over 200 folk, a large central fire area for everyone to sit around and with that many folk we usually collect far too much wood from the wood pile in Park Home (send 10 peeps over with trolleys) and have loads left. Oh and a spare empty tent for a wood store has been included in the Efest camp these past 3 years, helps keep it dry and out of sight of wood theives (if there is such a thing).

Quite what this wood you get when you enter the site is baffles me. We will be loaded up with all our camping gear, adding a 5-10kg bag of wood to the equation seems a bit strange imo.

Last year there were at least 5 all against the western wall. We hurried over by 10am and caned a load of it. Long planks that were a wee bit difficult to transport. If you can smuggle in a little axe or pruning saw to the fest, I would recommend it.

How do you find space for the fire without burning people's tents down. From looking at the pics there's hardly space to sit round the tents, let alone start a fire
