Detective McNulty
Neil Young - which album would be a good one to start with? Florence and the Machine - who the f**k are they? what type of music? worth listening to? Jarvis - What is his solo stuff like? and is there REALLY no chance of him churning out some pulp? Feel free to fire your own questions and the good people here will see them answered.
emmett milbarge
neil young - after the gold rush and greatest hits - you will fall in love with him Jarvis cocker's new album is pretty good
JonhnySaffron
For Neil Young listen to Harvest, Harvest Moon, On the Beach, Rust never sleeps and Live rust. Awesome, Awesome stuff. Not heard of Florence or her machine. Wouldn't have thought he'll play any pulp, and I can't say I'm that keen on the odd bits of his solo stuff that I've heard... But having said that Come on! It's Jarvis! Ace!
septemberwillow
Florence is fairly new. Album not yet out but she won the Critics Award at the Brits this year I saw her on the NME tour with White Lies, Friendly Fires and Glasvegas and she was excellent - very loud!! Great voice and slightly kooky. I will try to get to see her again at Glasto. Not sure how to describe her sound - sort of Yeah Yeah Yeahs.....? Mardy
The first Jarvis Cocker solo album is better than the most recent one.
JonhnySaffron
When you say 'kooky' do you mean quirky and interesting? Or 'like the kooks'? Because the latter I find rather distasteful.
Toilet Duck
...For Neil Young, the more recent greatest hits is actually incredibly coherent as an album for a collection, though Decade has all the songs on it and a few more gems that aren't included on the more recent hits album (like winterlong and for the turnstiles)... Edit: Man, I'm typing like a baboon today! Edited May 15, 2009 by Toilet Duck

JonhnySaffron
Splendid! And for the turnstile rocks my little cotton socks.

Detective McNulty
Yeah i'm already involved with a Neil Young greatest hits and yeah, i do really like it. Always prefer to delve into some albums though. Disappointed we won't get some Pulp really.

fullfathom5
Jarvis' solo stuff is great and well... what a frontman! He did play a few Pulp tracks acoustically at a recent gig in Manchester, so you never know!
