thanks for the advice and replies etc.. i'm looking for somewhere quiet and peaceful to camp where i can make my porridge and dried fruit in the morning. although i'm an original raver, i like to lead a peaceful existence and enjoy the simple things in life nowadays. very much looking forward to a night in trash city, as it sounds like the kind of place i would make a beeline for. also, now that the festival is a lot bigger etc.. i presume they have places where i could get a pint of soya milk and that sort of thing. really lookng forward to the sacred space field. the last time i was in glastonbury, i probably only knew of one person who owned a mobile phone and he was a yuppie twat. we had no such thing as the internet to speak of, and kurt cobain topped himself that spring. we still had a conservative government and we were still pissed off about the volume control people turning all the raves down. am i in for a shock?. i like to think that the festival has got better and better with the passing years and that the spirit of glastonbury has been embraced with each generation since. its a special place and i always felt a bit sad when i was coming home on monday afternoon. i shall stop writing now as i'm getting a lump in my throat!!.

Yes and no....about the shock part.

Sound systems...that will be the shock...well the lack of them is the shock. But there is plenty to do at night...the Bassline Circus is a great venue these days.

Mobiles are obviously very present but you can still exist like its 94 by not taking one along!

Quiet and peaceful...at the edges in the SW methinks...and you'll be close to the Park.

You WILL still feel very sad on Monday morning...but saying that we all do.

Expect the unexpected...(just no sound systems )

Interesting thread, being 18 and my first festival being in '07 it's really interesting to know what it was like in older generations

94! Thats my first year. Been ever since so have seen it evolve. I would say its bigger but safer. Relaxing! Well that depends on the weather. I said before, I will say it again. People are nicer, more relaxed and things are easier and happier in the sun.
