Fearless_Fish
Hello! I've been to Glastonbury three times now (the last 3), but still haven't visited all the stages, or seen a fraction of what there is to see! There's just too much to do, to do it all. I've not even been to the Park stage yet, though I'm hoping to catch Bon Iver there this year, which should be excellent. Now, I agree with the general consensus of "going with the flow" at Glastonbury, but it would be nice to have an idea of what various stages were like, and their "closing times", so the little time there is to explore can be used to its full potential. For example, in 2007, my girlfriend and I had a pretty bad day on the Saturday, which culminated in a terrible performance by the Killers! We decided that we'd had such a waste of a day that we'd go to the Circus/Cabaret area to cheer ourselves up - it took about two ours of solid graft through the mud to get there and back, and the stages had all closed! So perhaps some Glasto veterans could give their advice on the "smaller" stages for the benefit of us relatively inexperienced festivallers! The stages I'm thinking of specifically at this moment in time include: The Glade Croissant Neuf Trash City Shangri La Arcadia Field ...but obviously not just limited to those! The kind of info I hope to get would include the times these stages finish pumping out the music, and the different kinds of music available there (not too technical in your descriptions though), with links to videos of performances! I always like the sound of the Glade as a venue, but generally have never heard of the majority of acts on there. It sounds like a nice place to go and chill out after the main stages have closed - but does the Glade close with them? Let's share the knowledge! dwukky
Trash City is almost 24 hours - but in real terms about 12 midday till 4 / 5am Shangri La - as TC Dance - as TC The Park - about 1am - with the execption of silent disco - which is very late The Cinema last year was still playing films at 3am Circus / Caberet / Theater i guess is about midnigh-ish Jazz is around 1 Avalon is around 1 Pyramid is about 12:30 Other is about 12:30 Its hard to say exactly as it depends on the acts....... generally the more night club an area the later.. the more "performance art" the earlier Edited May 16, 2009 by dwukky
stuartbert two hats
I think Glade finishes music over the loudspeakers the same time as the main stages, but they've had a silent disco thing on there later on in the past I think. Have you checked out the official site, there's tons of info on there. Also, try this link: Torts FAQs Part Five If you have any more specific questions, just shoot. EDIT: More on page six. I've been going since 1997 and I'm learning about new venues from these FAQ! Edited May 16, 2009 by stuartbert two hats
LusciousLucy
The Glade Cafe has been known to harbour secret gigs eg Fatboy Slim in the past. Pussy Parlure and lots of other tents in the Dance Village were/are open pretty late too, when I say late I mean early...3-4am even on Sunday into Monday last year. There's always things like the Groovy Movie to check out too. Just be warned tho...after the headliners, especially Saturday, everyone has the same idea and mission...get to the afterparties and so expect to trudge and queue for a long time up at places like Shangri La. You get herded along the trainline to the far far end of the field and it takes a LONG time but the walk and the wait is bloody worth it and when you get to the field you wonder where the hell everyone that was in front of you went!
