Can you buy ice?

Hi all,

First time at Glasto this year.

Am pondering the deep and meaningful question of how to keep beer cold for a period of time?

I was wondering if there was a stall of some description within the site that sells bags of ice?

I am thinking a coolbox with several bags of ice in will cover the Wednesday, and to an extent maybe a bit of Thursday, but after that I am perplexed as to how to keep it cold.

If there isn't a stall for ice, then if anyone wants to adopt my business plan, then I for one will be your best customer during the festivities...

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

I just bought an igloo max-cold cool box that claims "holds ice for up to 5 days in 90 deg. heat".

It hold 56 cans (soft drink size so I'm assuming approx 40 440ml beer cans) - cost me £33 from Costco - will be putting it to the test over the next couple of weeks.......

there are better ways for cooling beer than ice at a festival - for example, get a sock (CLEAN!), dip it in cold water, put your beer into the sock and hang the sock up somewhere. It'll cool it down really quickly, as the air evaporates around it.

If you google there are loads of other ways suggested. Ice, if anyone did sell it, would be REALLY expensive for just frozen water, and bulky too! You might have more luck finding somewhere that refreezes ice blocks, not seen it myself though.

Managed to keep my cans cool till Friday night. Had a cool box with my beer and 3 or 4 cartons of juice which I'd frozen before hand. The cartons work as ice blocks and are great first thing in the morning when you're a bit dehydrated.

It might have kept the beer cold beyond Friday, but I'd finished it by then. ;)

Never tried it but i have seen at other festivals those stalls which are basically a bath with drinks in water and ice? they must be getting ice from someplace so a purchase and a little extra could get you enough ice to put in drinks vodka coke etc but not to cool a whole load of beer.
