Thinking about it...there are a lot of similarities between sex and festivals...

1) they end up costing far more than you originally budgeted

2) they're both over far too quickly

3) they leave you feeling a bit dirty

4) they're normally better when you're drunk

5) and somebody always ends up moaning about having to sleep in a wet bit...

6) and they never like it if you try and get in through the back entrance...

Phoenix, now they HAD a line-up. I remember just about every band I was into at the time was on and for reasons I still failed to understand I didn't make it to one of them.

Sonic Youth, Hole, Faith No More, The Black Crowes, Weller, Ned's, Stuffies, PWEI, Urban Dance Squad, Dodgy, House of Pain. The list goes on. They also had an acid jazz tent/stage with the likes of Galliano, Urban Species, Freak Power and Incognito - I'd take that now ta very much.

Back on topic, Phoenix would be the girl I fancied but never had the balls to ask out!

Dear V

Divorce papers are in the post based on grounds of irreconcilable differences.

Your behaviour has changed and my love has waned and I fear it will never return :D

My head has been turned in every other direction.

Neil

i knew it was over when i woke up on the sunday morning of last years V, i felt dirty, not because of the mud, but as if i had just woke up with a minger ( not that i have, ever), i felt that i was being cheated and i was cheating myself. to compound things, my phone battery was flat so i got up early and went to the arena for the gates opening so that i could recharge it, in an attempt to contact other efest regulars. i waited about an hour after the gates where due to be opened, and still no sign that they where going to open them, in the arena they where struggling to cope with the mud, caught out by the down pour on saturday evening, ( heavy rain that everybody on the efestival forum knew about 6 months in advance as predicted by metcheck).

v stands for only one thing, but many just don't see it, the v is the 2 finger salute to its customers.

my highlights for last year was chatting to randoms, but i don't feel the need to spend £135 to chat to them.

dirty boots you were so right.

v we had our tenth anniversary last year and even though things had changed we were still happy. We might just make another year, but we certainly will not be seeing our 12th.

Thanks for the good times, but your future does'nt look too bright. Your taking the wrong path and in years to come you'll see that.

Your better than this - sort it out!!!!

You forgot a couple actually mate

8) You get up early the morning after its all over and try to leave before anyone else wakes! (Not endorsing that one honest)

9)You often lose the phone numbers of the decent people you spent the weekend with...

10)You always wish Melissa Auf Der Maur had been involved :D

Flaminglippy that is funny as mate, but I hope to god you weren't really pebble-dashed by an ex.

13) When its your first time you're always nervous of what you'll forget or what could go wrong (or jumping up when a set of headlights light up the living room, thinking her parents are back!)

14) When its not going well you're left killing time until the acts finished and something better

15) Often when you're on your own you want sit back and watch the Barenaked Ladies...

16) One wrong hotdog salesman and your night is ruined (one for the ladies to consider)

Your attachment to v & rose tinted glasses really make me laugh.

V has always been the corporate monster of the festival scene. Has always had on mainstream pop acts to help sell out. They even give free tickets to Big Brother evictees to get the festival a page or 2 mention in the tabloids.

V has always been about getting pissed & watching something that make you happy. To take it any more seriously is just bound to lead to dissapointment.

V is the corporate whore of all festivals. Living in chelmsford it sadens me to know we are known for having a second rate pop festival. I remember the glory weekend of 03. since then its gone downhill every weekend. I can happily say I wont miss going this year. Worthy farm for me

Spot on. V has a lot of criticism, a lot of it with good reason, but the thing I can't understand is why its got the rep as being some big corporate monster, when in fact almost every other festival also has lots of sponsorship (albeit not to the same degree of V). I think the difference is the other festivals seem to be plowing the money into the line-up, which V isn't doing this year. Fact is, almost any day at say T in The Park, Oxegen, Glastonbury is better than any given day at V.

Cannot agree with you there about lack of plowing money into the line up. Oasis are probably one of the most expensive bands around for festivals, Noel often moans his own fans should pay more to go to one of their own gigs!!!!

Having been to a lot of festivals I have to say V is the most in your face with the corporate thing, they would probably have a kill a pig stall if the kill a pig stall where to pay them enough money & get a mention on the advertising haords at the side of the main stage

Actually I'd think V has to shell out more than most festivals, due to its smaller reputation - some artists would pay to play Glasto as its such a big event, while I doubt you'd entice the likes of Dave Grohl back to V without serious cash. V doesn't have the pulling power of the bigger festivals and so can't really compare.
