ampersand
also, with regards to ukslim on his dizzee defence, i like him. and i like snoop. just take whatever they say with a pinch of salt. but at a gig i was at in edinburgh a year or two ago, i remember dizzee doing a routine which i just laughed at, asking the crowd if they were criminals or similar and them all cheering. found it hilarious, and it appeared that dizzee was being serious. again, i like him but im sure there are comparisons with him and snoop for the whole glorifying thing. Chickenburger
hip hop and dizzee have no place at glasto with their behaviour. So what time is pete's solo gig again?

ukslim
Sorry, I know I am a boring old f... but is it not about time that everyone accepted once and for all that Glasto is not a suitable place for rap. srvman
the reason i mentioned dizzie rascal was not to pick on him.... he is just a high profile artist playing on the biggest stage at the festival as would snoop... if you had bought his first few albums you would realise he likes to talk about violence, sex, guns bitches and about fixing up and looking sharp, i like dizzie rascal...someone said snoop would be too offensive, someone said jay z and all i was doing was adding another name to prove his point.... its all fun anyway.... theres no room for funk in glastonbury they all said tht before james brown... now glastonbury is funk ya hear...uh...get up off that thing...hot on the one.. chuckley
i personally cant see why they blocked him from entering the UK. all this 'rapping about violence' pornography, e.t.c, is bogus. all kids of artists reference violence in their songs. they just speakin what they know...and dont even get me started on the dumb comment about porn. jayz aswell has done some things with his songs as has dizzie (seen as thought other put their name in the equauion) and both were welcome @ glasto. i dont see how snoop is any different. i swear bush has been in the UK?! pedmills
It doesn't really matter whether or not people think hip-hop SHOULD have a place at Glastonbury or not, it does, and has for a long time. Dizzee Rascal, Jay-Z, Lupe Fiasco, Fun Lovin Criminals, Just Jack, K'Naan, Roots Manuva, Black Eyed Peas, Goldie Lookin' Chain, Michael Franti, De La Soul, The Streets, Cypress Hill, The Roots and many others have all played before. srvman
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snoop_Dogg%27s_Doggystyle Michael Eavis is a fairly dedicated Methodist, and generally a right-on wooly liberal type (in the best possible sense). Obviously I can't speak on his behalf, but I strongly suspect he is opposed to porn. This really isn't Eavis' style.

chuckley
That simply isn't true. Although most people have probably glimpsed some, lots and lots of people don't seek it out, and would prefer it not to exist. (Not, incidentally, me.) Michael Eavis is a fairly dedicated Methodist, and generally a right-on wooly liberal type (in the best possible sense). Obviously I can't speak on his behalf, but I strongly suspect he is opposed to porn. Now, I personally am *not* against porn in general. But I've seen Doggystyle, and it's the 'bad sort' of porn. This isn't two people having mutually pleasing sex. Nor is it a women who get a kick out of group sex. It's women who've been subjugated to the extent that they'll go along with being used as playthings, for the enjoyment of people who enjoy that kind of dehumanising abuse. Next to Snoop's swimming pool. This really isn't Eavis' style.
