The marvellous Rabid and the right on Greenfairy included a Bad Shepherds song on the CD swap over on discussions, and after 1 listen, I was hooked. They're BRILLIANT.

Anyway, the reason I bumped this was because I had a quick look on their website and saw this:

The gig book is filling up. We start gigging around mid April and go through to mid June. Then a few festivals over the summer, and another big October Tour.

I saw Ade Edmondson when The Comic Strip did the Bad News tour - many moons ago.

They mentioned at the time that he was the only one who could actually play.

When we saw them at Solfest Ade did make the point that it didn't really matter for him financially since he was already loaded and it was a good laugh - they were clearly enjoying themselves, but with the likes of Troy Donockley (of You Slosh fame) playing Uillean pipes, cittern, whistles and on vocals it's far more than just a vanity project.

Loved 'em last year at Trowbridge. Entertaining and some good musicianship with an ex-Fairport input to balance the punk.

I saw them at Wychwood and Big Session while I was sober and wasn't madly impressed. Saw them in a small venue in their later tour while in drink (me not them) and admittedly did enjoy it. End of day, yes, it is a vanity project and while they are quality musicians (like the Family Mahone but not as funny) - a BBC Folk Award nomination - they've got to be kidding.
