Don't see whats wrong with the press conference above? I remember the fight and Dana is right. It was a disgrace.

Also calling the rounds isn't for our benefit. Its too get inside the opponents head. "This is the round he called maybe Ill step back in this round" etc.

I've watched it twice since and GSP wins clearly IMO. I just don't like the way he says GSP owes it to the company, hendricks and the fans to give a rematch. I'm sure later on in the conference he says more shit. GSP done enough for the ufc and deserved to step away at anytime.

The thing is a lot of people do think Mystic Mac is right with all his predictions, just pointing out he clearly isn't. I'll be shocked if he finishes Mendes in 4 minutes.

McGregor is favourite with the bookies.

Dana didn't use the exact word coward, but he said "it's the same injury loads of fighters have fought with". A man who is at that time on another continent.

I just watched aldo mendes 2 again. Both of them are fucking beasts. I've never seen Conor hit anyone as hard as the shots those 2 were throwing (and taking).

I know anything can happen, it's MMA. I'll be surprised if Conor is the favourite come the day of the fight.

I think hes possibly a better all round fighter than both of them. Mendes certainly. Thats not to say hes going to beat either mind you.

I don't like Rory McDonald very much at all. I've got the feeling he might try and five round shitfest his way to a win over Lawler. I can see him failing though.

Mendes/McGregor is interesting. I think Mendes will win though. I don't think McGregor is as elusive as some think. He's unorthodox for sure, but Mendes will have five rounds to figure him out, as well as a first round which McGregor will be slow getting into as he always is.

Before it was official everyone said Mendes goes in as favorite so I'm looking forward to it.

Although he runs his mouth a lot though McGregor seems to have a look of a killer at times.I don't mean in the cage as not seen him but just his demeanor when not running his mouth.

I seem to generally call it watching them go to the cage though.

To me Aldo did look bothered by it all.

Cheers mate!

Be honest I'm sat in the pub but will defo be checking out all the vids before Saturday fight night.

Must say, people moaned at the time about the coverage CM Punk joining UFC got and possibly getting preferential treatment but that's the entire reason I started watching and I've not looked back since.

There's beeN a coupla times people have come into MMA from other sports with loads of confidence and got their arse kicked, most notably Brock against frank Mir, but also James Tomey who talked a load of smack and got fucking owned by randy couture, that was embarrassingly inept. I think CM Punk has that in mind hence his long lead up to his first outing. UFC isn't as physically demanding schedule-wise as WWE, but in terms of actual damage and physical toll its fucking worlds apart.

I have never given WWE a single minute of my attention because it's basically eastenders in a ring, UFC is real fighting, real damage, real threat, and it's not to be taken lightly - as James Tomey will attest. I'm sure it's available on YouTube - look it up!

Dunno where I got "Tomey" from, was a bit pissed though.

just found a version on youtube but it was awful, had a massive watermark and was running at the wrong speed. (and couldnt be fixed)

Lesnar became world heavyweight champion, surely that's got to be considered a success?

CM Punk I think will do well. He's straight edge and totally committed to this so I wish him every success.Although the more I've got into UFC the less I actually care about his debut lol.

Lesnar was/is a freak of nature though. Incredible man, give him credit but he really didn't like being punched in the face.

Its a fairly universal view that Punk is gonna get a rude awakening, most low (unranked) UFC fighters have had 8-12 amateur fights before they even get close to being TUF interviewees, fight experience makes a huge difference. Not that I am speaking from any kind of position of authority mind, purely as someone who has watched a fair few over the last few years.

Punks debut depends hugely on who they give him to, and by all accounts everyone wants to be on that list.

And also all these WWE guys are carrying a careers worth of injuries and are used to taking something to help them get through it. These injuries can reeappear at any time.

They'll protect him and promote him as much as possible. Hes a big draw. Same for Lesnar. UFC title shot after 2 fights?!

Absolutely, Punk is front and center of their business plan, the WWE market is huge worldwide, and as we have seen - our very own Metallimuse has become interested/a fan directly as a result of them giving him a contract.

Its a shrewd move, only thing is - they pissed of about 80% of the fighters when they fast tracked him over their years of work and experience.

If fighters got paid more on the whole, they might not be quite so hostile. And the reebok deal is doing them no favours at all.

dont think the deal has been discussed much on here at all, but i think its a disgrace how much some fighters are losing out on.

Yeah UFC like going for the quick buck alright. On the flipside though, the fee some of them will get for fighting Punk is potentially huge. Biggest payday or their lives.

not many champs in the last 5 years have defended their belts 2+ times a year, I believe if aldo had made those 5 fights, he would have made an average of 3 defenses a year.

saying he has pulled out of 5 defenses paints him a little unfairly imho.

dunno if you have seen aldo mendes 2? this is a bit of a botch job, but its free. it was fight of the year last year.

God damn that was a good fight!!!

Glad you enjoyed it fella, dunno if you've seen my fave fight of all time, but try and Track down shogun v Henderson 1 from 2011 (UFC 139)

It was on YouTube before, but haven't found it recently.

If I had to show a non fan how great UFC Is, that would be my "go to" fight. I must have watched it a dozen times.

It's a popular contender for the best UFC bout of all time.
