I won't ruin it for anyone but theres a sort of special guest near the end. I thought it was a fairly good UFC fighter podcast for Joe, think the Ronda podcast is the highest viewed one on YouTube, dont know about downloads elsewhere

Really enjoyed it, hope he starts doing mma related ones more often .

He's had Chuck on IIRC, the Dana one was quite good, the Uriah Faber one from a few years back was great. I know I'm prone to Conor bashing, but his appearance on TFATK was cringeworthy. The man can't switch off his persona. I was really looking forward to hearing his actual thoughts and insights, but he was just playing his game, it was like listening to a Conor McGregor advert, no humility, no humanity, just brag, brag, brag. It was woeful. Don't take my word for it, listen to it and see.

Fighter podcasts arent always great, even Schaub and Callen have made a rule not to have fighters on they don't know because lets face it, a lot of them are dim, and a lot of them are basically thugs. The War Machine on JRE one being a case in point.

Rickson Gracie podcast was great as well. Agree about Conor on TFATK, just stayed in character the whole time. He did a really good interview with Ariel back in May/June.

Frank Mir has started a podcast with his coach, it's called Phone Booth Fighting. Two episodes out so far, one with Faber and the other one is with Joey Diaz/Rumble Johnson Not listened yet but will be checking it out as always liked listening to Mir talk in interviews.

I like Conor but I didnt even make it all the way through TFATK with him, and thats one of the only ones I have seen of theirs. I think Rogan could possibly handle Conor's personality in a podcast and be like cut the bullshit, what do you think about X Y and Z. Getting Nick DIaz on JRE podcast would be great too, not sure if he has been on before but from recent events it would be great.

Agree that the Rickson one/ones are good, I saw a behind the scenes video of after the Rogan-Rickson-Eddie Bravo podcast and Eddie was rolling with Rickson and showing him various guards, Rickson didnt seem too impressed at the time. I prefer watching the podcasts on youtube because Rogan has a habit of watching videos and being fairly visual with things, so its good to see. Might have to look into the Mir podcast, where can it be found?

Diaz has never been on it but we know he is a fan "train by day, joe rogan podcast by night"

Yeah I saw that video with Bravo and Rickson, 15 minutes of Bravo telling him and showing him the rubber guard I think it was. I like to try and watch it as well, love seeing the reactions and as you see a lot of stuff on it is visual, still fine with just audio though.

The Mir podcast is on itunes, I just subscribed via the podcast app I use on my phone. Looks like this is the web version http://podbay.fm/show/1041527368

Yeah he is a Joe Rogan guy haha.

Yeah thats the video I think, and I agree audio is fine but when I can I watch them. Podcast on my TV screen, do uni work on my laptop, great combo. Thanks I might have to check that out. There are quite a few decent podcasts on podcast one, but I dont know if there are any good MMA based ones.

The latest TUF, McGregor exposing his own bullshit.......

He is gradually coming unravelled in his own bullshit, first off he isnt going in to half of the training sessions, then its quite obvious he is gonna need to be, in fact its his job to be - those guys are relying on him to give them the very best advice and coaching he can, and he is short changing them.

Then his "unconventional sparring" technique will be next to go, theres a reason people have trained for fights in a certain way for decades - because it works. He also claims he isnt going to be getting invested with the fighters, then spends his time sweating like a pig, shouting like a madman and throwing his expensive sunglasses around like a lunatic.

Then he predicts in his own special way "I feel this fight will take place against the cage", which it doesn't, in fact - he claimed the opponent would rush him up against the cage and brawl - when the reverse was the case - it was his guy who instigated the wall and stall. and finally - he completely turns his back on what was possibly one of the best guys in terms of heart I have seen at that level for quite some time, calling him names, saying he was a joke and he didn't have it in him. I've only watched a few seasons of TUF, but I don't think I've ever seen a coach treat a defeated fighter in that way.

The lad had potential- even in defeat, and fought a much better fight than McGregors bff Artem.

I know the UFC wont allow McG to come out of TUF looking anything less than amazing, but damn I dislike the man even more after the 3 episodes I have watched.

Only the second ufc event they have had this month, much prefer it his way than a card every single week. Look forward to it more.

edit: Slightly off topic as not directly related to mma but we were discussing JRE briefly above so thought I'd mention it. Last night I watched the episode with astronaut Chris Hadfield. It's only 1 hour long but was so interesting.

Couple of mates round and watching tonights event live, best way!

Nice one, Not the best card but good enough for fight night. PPV is next weekend which is fairly stacked.

Be interesting to see how Josh Barnett performs tonight, been almost 2 years since we last saw him. Fully expect to see him get the win unless he gets caught with that right hand.

Mousasi vs Hall in the co-main event. Huge step up for Hall.

I didnt think it was that good, the prelims were way better than the main card, but most of the main card was pretty dull, starting with the benavidez fight.

Gus v DC was a great fight, I know DC came out the fairly clear winner, but gus didnt throw a single kick in 4&5, didnt use his length at all, and that could have made the difference. Gus has been so close to getting that belt twice now.

Sage Northcutt will be bigger than RRR and CMcG. He appears to be the perfect posterboy for UFC. Lets hope he can back it up consistently in the cage.

Thought main card was very poor, saved by the main event which was amazing.

Jon Jones posted an Instagram video then immediately deleted it. Hope we get Jones/Dc for Super Bowl weekend with the debut of CM Punk on there. Give Bader to Rumble.

Sage Northcutt was impressive but saying he will be bigger than those two is a big statement to make. That clip of him doing the flip post- fight went viral though so he is off to a good start.

Edit: just remembered how bad DC was beat up so his next fight might not be as soon as I'm hoping.

  • 3 weeks later...

I know it's been a quiet month since the last ppv but this thread should never end up on page 3!

UFC Dublin looks even more like shit now, Duffy is injured.

I know, it was barely an interesting card as it was. Houlihan headlining? Jesus H Christ....

this dry spell is boring as fuck. I can barely raise any interest.
