The Best Place to Camp

Right, I am a glastonbury virgin so I am not clued up on where to camp. I've been to festivals before so know that camping near a path; near the toilets; near a light or in a bog is not good. But, the site is huge and I simply do not know where I would like to camp, by looking at the map. Unfortunately, i can only get there on the Thursday so I expect to be limited and expect i will have to squeeze my tent in somewhere.

So, can anyone help on where the most lively/ most friendly/ most fun camp to place. Plus, where are all you camping?

Thanks for your help. And, only three weeks to go! Bring it on!

Good post jack. As a first timer to Glastonbury too it would be good to get peoples views on the different character (if any) of the different camp sites too. Presumably those nearest the main stages are the liveliest and those on the outer edges of the site a bit quieter?

This may also be a daft question but are there any food/drink stalls within the campsites? My thoughts are to travel light and buy the majority of food and drink onsite as there seems like a massive choice of food outlets. However if I'm camping a long way from the main stages will I have a very long walk to get my morning expresso?

You can easily pick up food and drink all round the site, no problem.

I've only been once and camped in Park Home Ground. I loved it, good location and not too noisy (I do need sleep!).

Apart from that I know that Pennards is party central, and fills up quickly.

I had to arrive on Thursday one year, what I did was drop all my heavy bags off at the first free property lock-up, then continued on with just my tent. It was so much easier walking around with just the tent. Found a superb spot after a little hunting, once tent was up, went back for the rest of my stuff from the lock-up.
