if you need sleep do everything you can to avoid being parked on the front row alongside the tracks to the pedestrian gates.....not only will you be kept awake by folks trudging past 24 hours a day...but if it rains your van will get trashed by all the mud....

failry easily sorted if you plead with the field crew when you arrive ...

Worth checking with your hire company whether levelling blocks and a spirit level are supplied. If not, its not a show stopper. Main problem we've had when not level is that the shower/sink don't drain properly, and pans might slide off the cooker. However the East campervan fields are fairly level, unless you are in E18, which is quite undulating but has fantastic views of the site.

Enjoy!

more important than levellers. get 4 peices of wood to drive onto to stop you sinking. Seen it so many times, vans getting bogged down with the waight and movement if the weather turns nasty. Nothing big maybe 2 foot long and wide enough to easily drive onto.

Make sure you wind the awning in if its get a wind out one. that wind ripped my mates up in 2005 when he forgot about it.

Make sure your water tanks are full before you get on site.

You are usually advised to travel with the tanks empty but I always arrive full as it takes ages to fill the water containers on site.

Which leads me to - make sure you are able to transport water to the camper and are able to get it into the tanks either by a funnel or electric pump when you are on site.

And beware how quickly you can empty the water tanks when having a shower.

(The worst time to go for water is mid morning)

Arrive early on the Wednesday.

If you get to the gates at 8.30 you should get a good pitch on E14 close to the pedestrian gate, if yuo don't you could have another half mild walk.

If you have mates camping - pitch a tent with them.

a. There's no atmosphere in the camper fields

b. It's a hell of a walk back the the camper field from most of the site and sometimes it's nice to have a rest on site during the day rather than walking back.

Fill the fridge with beer and make sure it's switched on when you leave for the site
