Parking at Weston - whats it like?

Will be our first time at V this year as we normally do Leeds but have decided on both this year. I've looked at transport from Cardiff and there is no direct bus like there is to Leeds. So the option of driving seems like the cheapest and most viable. Question is what is the car parking like if the weather is bad? Do you park on grass/mud or gravel? As if it rains surely all the cars get stuck. I have access to a 4x4 if needs be but would rather take my own car! Cheers

Its not brill in bad weather to be honest but then again my car is super low - We had to leave after the last band on the Sunday for fear of getting stuck , But i recon if you have a normal car you should be ok .

Ive only been once myself so others may know more - Our carpark looked the worst as we drove out so maybe we just had bad luck !

Park on grass and last year was, erm, fun to say the least on Monday morning! Although I did quite enjoy the sideways action... The car I had then was low but dealt with it pretty well. I did see quite a lot of cars on Monday morning that were stuck/being pulled out and that, I was surprised we didn't get stuck to be honest! The year before was very wet but no where near as bad as last year! I think last year was just compounded by all the wet weather we'd had all "summer" and the ground was just saturated.

It isn't all bad though, your faith in mankind is restored when some random blokes you've never met before help push your car out the mud (2 girls struggling with a big estate car.. oops!) and it's a right laugh too.

There are three car parks I believe, but whatever you do try to avoid South Car Park. I have parked there for the last two years and it turns into a quagmire quite quickly as you are going up hill.

The first year I went it took 4 hours to negotiate between stranded cars to get out. Last year I didnt take a chance and we left straight after Ian Brown on the Sunday and only took two hours. My friends who decided to stay the night took 6 hours to get out and they were in a 4X4.

Hmm, even if the weather is good parking sounds like a nightmare anyway! Have booked a coach from bristol instead - works out more expensive but don't want to risk wrecking the car in some mud induced crash!

parking is fine if you wait until around 2pm monday to leave, we did that last year and were out straight away. Its also really fun to see the ghost like town that is left behind when your pretty much the only ones left on site, eerie!

They always have tractors or 4x4's on hand to pull people out if they get stuck.

This happened to my friends in South car park in 2007. They were in a fiesta and that got pulled out fine!

Last year, I nicked my brothers volvo. he arrived quite last on the friday so he was parked like right next to the exit of East car park. Was out of the car park no worries within like 10 minutes. But there were people in the queue who were struggling. It was a propper slushy pit last year tho!!!

Expect the very worst and you won't be disapointed. You will generally see loads of stewards on your way into the carparks on the Friday and then probably one or two on the Monday morning on the way out if you're lucky .You kind of get the impression that once they have all your money you're not worth the bother anymore and most people are left to their own devices to get out anyway they can.

It's first in last out too so if you get there early you will park close to the campsites but far from the car park exit.

All i can say is that if you're easily stressed whilst stuck in a queue of traffic, then leave very very very early on Monday morning.

go down the lane as soon as you enter weston park... then turn right!

thats where we park every year people avoid it for some reason...

and the v stage is right in front of it too aha.

I left at 7:30am on Monday (I was up anyway) and was straight out, it all depends on the weather and when you time it. Everyone wants out between 9am and 1pm so that's when its busy.

As for the parking it might be an idea to stick it in gear and leave the handbrake off - saw a woman trash her brakes one year as they had seized on as it had been crap weather all weekend.

The car parks aren't that bad though, just needs a bit of thought rather than a club foot if its really wet. But this year I think it is gonna be good weather for a change

Advice here is spot on, get up and knob O'clock in the morning and head out or hang round for a few hours more kip then head out. Avoid 9am-1pm and you'll probably do fine.

We got up at knob o'clock and were off site before 7am, back home to Liverpool by 9am, including a stop off for brekkie and a nice cup of tea!

In '07, we had the plan to get up handy, get off site handy and sat for 3 3/4 hours doing a nice slow circle of the site - ended up, after about 3 hours, back at the car park we started at

The way we did it last year was defo worth it. We packed up pretty much everything on Sunday night and then just quickly dropped the tent early doors on Monday. Will do it like that again this year

It helps if you take anything you won't need Monday morning or Sunday night back to you car on the Sunday before the music starts.

Only difficulty in getting up at stupid o'clock is convincing your mates it is 6am and they need to be moving or they'll be left behind.

I've just realised that this advice will be useless now as we'll all be up at 6am! If I see more than 20 people taking tents down I'm going back to bed!

We do the get up at 5.30 thing. Even with the nightmare mud last year, we're normally back home and having a brew by 9am at the latest!

And, as someone has already said, pack everything you don't need on the Sunday. We always try to do just one run to the car, but it never quite works out that way, so I tend to do the carrying stuff thing while the hubby takes the tent down. Always works out alright for us!
