vip tickets won in a competition

I got a phone call from Blacks, the camping shop people this morning, informing me that I’d won a competition id entered ages ago to win two VIP Glasto tickets!! This is obviously great news and im a jammy bugger (I consider this payback for my tickets getting lost in ’07 and having to miss the festival) but the only problem is, I’ve already got tickets!

I didn’t mention this to her, as I was worried I could lose out on the prize. Also as the competition winner, one of the tickets had to be for me, so I put me down as one and my girlfriend (who also has a ticket already) as the other. These wont have photos on them so I thought itd be easy to get some mates in who really want to go, but it turns out we need photo id which matches the address on the tickets (passport or drivers license only, apparently)

Anyone ever had a similar situation, or does anyone have any ideas how to deal with this and get my mates in? One option would be to see if seetickets can transfer our original tickets to my mates’ details, but I have no idea whether they’d even do this, especially as we have received our tickets.

Any ideas?

hmmm, not too sure but I know that passports don't have your address in them so that rules them out! You might be able to get away with giving them some utility bills with your address on but then if the ask for your mates photo ID and the names don't match your knackered!

Sorry but I actually have no advice, thinking about it I have no idea why I've even bothered to write this. Sorry!

In all fairness your new tickets are VIP and the ones you've bought are regular. Give the ones you bought away/bin them and use the VIP ones. You wont get a refund but You'll have paid £180 for VIP passes. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Tickets are none transferrable but you could give em to your mates if they don't mind pretending to be you.

Yeah your better off giving your original ticket to a mate. You usually just show that at the gate, I don't know of anyone who had to have other ID for that.

I'd definitely take the VIP one just for quicker bar service

hmm, well if at all possible i want to end up with the VIP tickets rather than giving them to my mates and ending up with regular ones as im assuming they give VIPs wristbands on the gate that are hard to swap afterwards. So the best option looks like just giving our regular tickets to my mates.. only thing is my mate looks nothing like me!

Guess it comes down to that age old question... do they look at the photos on the tickets when you go in? and from what i gather, sometimes they do, sometimes they dont.. luck of the draw really but i big risk of a wasted journey for them :)

OR

You go in with your regular tickets, get the wristbands then both leave getting 2 passouts.

One of you removes your wristband puts it on your mates wrist hands over the passout and in they go, then repeat the process leaving your two mates in the festival and two of you outside now wristbandless.

Then use your VIP tickets. They rarely look at your ticket upon re-entry i find, they are more concerned with the passouts.

Would it be worth getting a comedy style face mask on your mate. I've got a craig David mask that when most people see me wearing they piss themselves. Something along those lines should distract the guards away from the fact that they can't see your face and if they've got one of your utility bills or something on them just in case they could probably get away with it. And its not unusual for people at Glastonbury to be walking around in a mask.
