people,

i have'nt been to glastonbury for years (15 to be exact), so i was wondering if you have any recommendations for a chilled camping experience. i want to camp somewhere reasonably serene and away from it all. could you recommend anywhere from your recent experience.

thank you

I'm the same - I'm a light sleeper and need a decent nights sleep or I'm fit for nothing the next day. We camped in the dairy ground last year and it was really quiet - except that we camped near the long drop toilets which have sprung doors which automatically slam shut. So all night we could hear 'slam, slam slam'! Aside from that the field itself was really quiet and a decent size so you could avoid the sound of the toilets. It was quite out of the way though so you'll be in for a bit of a walk.

Good luck anyway, hope you find somewhere to your liking.

I camped in the Paines Ground off the White route.

as its at at a gate its quiet once the crowds have come in. Plus theres a toilet block near the gate which is pretty clean as there's no footfall passing.

Just move a little bit up the track and a bit closer to the fence and everythings quite quiet.

Plus the white route seemed to be easy to get into the festival from. for me anyway.

all well worth the extra 5 minutes walk if you prefer quiet
