Non-alcoholic drinks for thirsty non-drinkers ?

Okay folks I gave up the booze about 6 years ago and haven't had a drop since !

I love going to Glasto and always have a great time in a sober state surprisingly enough  The buzz of the place keeps me high as a kite :)

I understand that I am in a small minority being a non-drinker but would like to hear if anyone else has any decent suggestions of places which serve decent non-alcoholic drinks in general.

I seemed to spend a lot of my time drinking either a lot of cans of Red Bull (needed to keep me going through the many hours available) or quite a lot of either bottled water or fruit juice.

I found a place called 'The Orchard Pig' which sold ice cold organic apple juice which was absolutely tasty & lovely and very reasonably priced (I highly recommend them btw). I checked with them recently and they are here again this year near to 'The Other Stage' so I will be back there again I guess...

However I'm sure there must be lots of other places around the site selling tasty non-alcoholic drinks so I'm asking for some help here.

Can anyone recommended anywhere/anything that would be suitable?

I know about places like the 'Tiny Tea Tent' which is great for a hot cuppa but I'm looking for places which sell tasty thirst quenching drinks (not your bog standard cans of cola/sprite etc either !)

Does the 'Cider Bus' or 'Brothers Bar' sell straight apple/pear juices for instance (and are they any good)?

Any decent non-alcoholic beers sold is something else I'm interested to find out too.

I'm sure I can't be the only non-drinker going to Glasto this year so please share your knowledge !

Many Thanks in advance

Dave

The pizza place next door to the tiny tea tent (the yurt-type place) sells real lemonade and elderflower, and the Greenpeace cafe does freshly squeezed OJ. Some of the curry places must sell lassi?

Of course, if you DO want Sprite/Coke etc, the Tor Rugby Club up by Acoustic sells cans for 50p which is the best value on site!

One of the first things on my MUST DO list is go and find the Lemonade stall that is usually parked up in the Pyramid Field...even on Wednesday. Been a Glasto Tradition since 1995!

I would recommend searching out the Pennards Wine Stall on (I think) the walkway up from the Jazz to the GreenFields Crossroads, I beleive they do apple juice. And search out if it is available...fresh ginger presses/home made ginger beers. No idea if they have em but they do them in Oz and are lush!

Will be plenty of smoothy stalls, you may even get lucky somewhere and be able to get a coke float! YUM!

Also bound to be non-alcoholic cocktails on site in various bars eg. in Shangri La

OOOhhh and you cannot miss the Cream Teas in the Tree House at the back of the Park! Incredible views and incredible scones, jam and cream!

The Cider Bus does do Apple Juice ... but it usually runs out before Sunday so I probably shouldn't have told you now that I come to think about it  Also stumbled across a great juice/smoothie/cocktail bar kinda place somewhere in greenfields I think but I have absolutely no idea where, I only managed to find it the once unfortunately :) Fresh OJ in greenpeace cafe is good.

My favourite non-alcoholic fizzy drink is Ginger Beer, in fact this thread has reminded me to take a couple of 2 litre bottles and some cans.

It is perfect to mix with the real ale to make an unusual shandy and stop me getting drunk too quickly. Sorry for OT post, but hopefully the Ginger Beer idea might be useful for you as it does make a change to Coke/Red Bull/Water and is a nice drink on its own, and also, importantly at a sunny Festival (please), is not totally undrinkable when not ice cold, whereas warm coke is hideous.

There's a great but extremely expensive Milkshake stall in Holts, near the entrance to JazzWorld. Charged about 4 quid a pint last year, but worth it.

There's also a stall in the Main Markets that sells very nice freshly squeezed lemon juice, think it was 2.50 a pint. I've got a vague memory of it being near the bandstand.

The Apple Juice from the Cider Bus is also worth recommending.

Mr P&P says: 'there's a place near the Other Stage, opposite the giant yorkshire pudding place, that does gorgeous smoothies, and also in the Park the tea and toast tent does herbal teas, smoothies and lovely stuff', and he adds a +1 for the pizza place elderflower.

Thank you all for such good replies :P

I certainly will have quite a few more choices of drink this year esp if it is hot and dry

However if anyone else has any good drink suggestions I would be glad to hear them too :)

PS I am glad the Cider Bus sells apple juice too as will make life easier for me at the eFest Meets ! :D

A friend of mine runs a solar powered lemonade stall, there are 2 of them, one around the Main stage and one by the dance field I think. Not at all suitable for Diabetics though, not even a sip by all acounts! It is green though, the solar powered aspect, not the colour! <_<

Add me to that list of non-drinkers.

I am not a comeplete none drinker, just a massive lightweight, so I prefer not to.

I am also diabetic (bugger) so lemonades and most fruit juices are out too apart from the occasional one, water and diet drinks, ROCK & ROLL!

But who cares, it will be so hot I will only need water anyway <_<:):)

I'm like Scouse Andy, not a confirmed teetotaller, but I prefer not to drink alcohol most of the time, it's a very rare occasion that sees me imbibe! If the lemonade is like the stall at Leeds then I can recommend it wholeheartedly, nom nom nom! The only problem is that you get pints of the stuff, and too much acid is not good on my tum so I try to share it or have to throw half away :D I'm more than happy with a nice cold bottle of water but it's good to know there's plenty of alternatives too :D
