Campervans

Hi all

Im staying in the camper van fields as always this year. In previous years i have borrowed old caravans and the odd campervans from people. The defference this year is i am borrowing a campervan from my brother that he is converting from an old AA van. its pretty much finished. He has installed proper bed and a fridge under the bed but this is as far as he is going. It has carpet and proper flooring and stuff and looks pretty professsional and tidy.

The reason for my post is that im starting to get worried that im going to have problems with the stewards. Several people have been sayin to me about it not have a sink and stuff. he is not putting one in because the campsites he will be staying on have showers etc so it is not needed.. Now, i can understand why this "rule" was bought in to stop people putting a mattress in the back of a camper but this is hardly that.

has anyone else had similar problems? Do you think i am worrying unessesarily?

hi mate

yeah it does have windows in the back. i have got those thermal reflective window things to put in all the windows like campervans have.

I would have thought any steward with common sense will nto make any issue but am gonna be very unhappy if i get down there and they dont let me in.

from TOS.....the key thing for you is the highlighted section....

What counts as 'suitable fitted facilities' in a camper/caravan?

Your campervan/caravan MUST have purpose-built fitted sleeping facilities and either fitted cooking or washing facilities. Any converted vehicles must clearly be live-in vehicles. This does not mean simply a van with a piece of foam cut to size for a bed, and a bucket for washing!

A team of campsite staff and security staff will check that campervans and caravans coming into these fields have bona fide living accommodation. No other vehicles will be let onto these fields under any circumstances - not even late replacement vehicles in the case of a breakdown - sorry.

What will happen to my vehicle if it is considered unsuitable for the campervan fields?

Unsuitable vehicles, including unconverted vans, with tickets for the camper van fields, will not be allowed entry and will be sent to one of the festival car parks - and, as it is contrary to our licence, security patrols will not permit sleeping in any vehicles in these car parks.

thanks for the info parsonjack. I may be being optomistic here but i would hope i will be ok. My campervan does not have fitted washing or cooking facilities because my brother decided not to install them but it clearly has a proper bed that folds down from benches.

i would hope that the stewards we go past have common sense and dont make an issue of the fact we dont have washing facilities.

My brother has already used the van on a caravan site and had no problems so finger crossed
