where are the longdrops exactly?

Heard a myth about the long drops: When they were first introduced the holes were too big and some unfortunate soul, while sat down, fell through! Very much doubt it's true, but imagine that!!!

Definitely the best option; and you won't miss them!!

Longdrops now figure and exist at pretty much EVERY toilet spot marked on this map:

TW...Toilets and Water.

Some look like this...this sort are the original type.

glastonbury-2003-toilet-l.jpg

and are at ground level with the tank for poopoo and peepee is sunk down into the ground. The contents get sucked out daily so you are never in anydanger of them flooding over.

This is the tall style long drop...new edition to the south of site since the UberWettening of 2005!

you climb the stair obviously to this one...but are a bit of a bugger because you cant check for feet so easily as you have to queue at either end and as we know...us Brits just love to queue. Before you head to use them...just run along the front at ground level and if its clear any are empty but the queue is long...just shout over to the waiting hordes to actually go into the empty ones!

ALWAYS CHECK FOR FEET FOLKS. Sometimes you MIGHT accidentally walk in on a short kid who cant reach the lock and it gets all embarrasing or more often you'll walk in on a bloke who hasnt locked the door behind himself. The locks are generally pretty good these days too.

you can tell if you're on Eavis land if the long drops are sunk into the ground. they're permanent structures and are only situated on worthy farm. the 'high drops' are temporary and are on land not owned by ME but rented from neighbouring farmers for the duration of the festival.

Don't suppose anyone has a map detailing which are the tall ones and which are the ones sunk into the ground? One of our group prefers the sunk ones because she's quite short and apparently they're easier for her to use. (No I don't understand the specifics either!)

I know the ones just over the railway track from the Other Stage are sunken ... can anyone else provide locations of the others? I fancy camping a little further out than that, but we'd like to be somewhere near that type of toilet, if possible...

(Apologies if that makes absolutely no sense at all, I've been in the pub tonight trying to build up my alcohol tolerance in preparation for the copious cider I will no doubt be drinking from Wednesday onwards.)

...Pennards has risen ones, as does The Park and environs. The ones by the Greenfields crossroads are sunken but the next lot along to the east are tall types. Any near or around the market are sunken I think. Kidney Mead, sunken. Shangri La, tall. Erm...not so sure about the Eastern areas but you seriously can tell from a distance...if the green construction is high off the ground with steps...it a tall un. If at head height, sunken. Sunken dont have rooves, tall ones do.

WHY do I know so much about longdrops? Haha! Creeeaaak...whoosh...crash! A joyous sound that is truly Glastonbury! ;)

We camped at Limekilns in 2007, the long drops at the bottom of that field are sunken ones, and they're never TOO busy.... I popped my longdrop cherry about 10 minutes after we arrived, I HATE portaloos with a passion, never went near one the whole time we were there! Has to be said though, having a pee in the open air when it's raining is a very strange sensation!

I can't wait for this year (not the longdrops, just the festy)!
