cheeseisamazing
Hi i'm a glastonbury virgin. I've been reading the 'fineguide to glastonbury 09' (u can download it from glastonburys site) it states within it 'You can eat really well and cheaply on site. Ditch the food & cooking equipment.' i was going to bring equipment, after going to reading last yhr and seeing how much food was (not unreasonable- bt i'm poor thanks the the recession ¬¬), but after reading this thought i'd enquire when they say cheaply, how much they mean? and if there are cheap places where? thanks Will
farewellandgoodnight
If you go to the Hari Krishna tent then it's free. If not you can probably eat reasonably for about a fiver or so a meal.
Laura_Babs
I always say these on all these threads but I swear by it... I budget £20/day for food: £4 for breakfast £5 for lunch £6 for dinner (all approximate) plus about a fiver for snacks. I like to buy the odd corn on the cob or yeo valley or donuts! chuckley
i saw that in the fine guides yest aswell... hilarious they think u can eat cheaper there than with ur own stuff. yea funny. but anyway unless u use the free place everytime ur hungry, it can work out expensive if u need heavy meals or need to eat frequently. grumpyhack
You can eat reasonably cheaply and well. My favouite is the Indian Veggie Curry Festival Special at about £5.99. But I still like to be able to make my own breakfast and have a late night hot drink and munchies so take a one burner gas cooker as well. Also provides hot water for a wash and washing up. travelling mr pastry
id just say f**k em. you carried the shit up there, you should eat it. if you feel you have to get some for your mates then buy some cheapo sandwich steaks or something and then save the good stuff for yourself. travelling mr pastry
i might also make some honey soy chicken wings to chuck on too, messy as f**k to eat so might not be so hot for the first day, but start as you mean to continue
soozyfloozy
I got my wallet stolen last year (got my cards back but not my cash) and I managed to get through from Thurs- Monday on 50 quid, and I eat like a pig, so if I can do it, anyone can! Up round the Greenfields is always good for grub, it's mostly all veggie but it's filling and relatively cheap, lots of nice soup and stuff for about 2.50-3 quid a pop, plus falafel and all that jazz! lolbeck
This is going to sound quite silly, but my mother was saying we might have to be careful about what we eat, because "you don't want the squirts at a festival". Does anyone get that problem often?...

DaveMac
I've never known of anyone to get the "squirts" (what a charming phrase lol)- the key is to make sure you have a little bottle of antibacterial hand gel with you (you know the stuff they use in hospitals that evaporates and reeks of alcohol), use it every time you've been to the loo and before you eat and you'll be right as rain! Most of the food stalls are pretty good- if you want to avoid the risk don't eat any meat, there's plently of veggie options about!

mimis
Last year we camped up in Greenfields, previously had been by Pyramid... not only a huge improvement in overall festy experience but have saved loads of money!! It's all about places like the Buddhafield cafe.. yummy generously portioned museli breckfast up in the most gorgeous surroundings
Homer
Don't buy a fry up, they're always rancid.
YetAnotherOldHippy
£6 should get you a quality feast. Decent meals are available for half that. I'd recommend Garlic Kitchen for a Full English breakfast. You won't get the squits (squirts?) unless you fail to wash your hands properly, or eat at them dubious burger vans... I'm looking forward to the variety of food on offer more than anything else
