Hi, I'm a student doing some research into how the 'credit crunch' is affecting music festivals. It would be dead handy if anyone could click on the poll above, and if you've got 3 minutes to spare there's an online questionaire of 20 optional multiple-choice questions here -

- which would help me loads. Ta fellow gig fans, Naz xxx

god i misread the damn thing and picked the wrong 1!!!!!!!!!

HOWEVER we are only the 1st year into the recession so ur 'study' aint even technically valid. tickets went onsale last year immediately for most festivals after the 2008 one for limited time only @ that years price. then opened again for general.

u cant tally anything yet.

Done both

I am aware that on the money and accommodation front, I am in a very unusual situation.

The credit crunch hasn't really effected me as I have no debt, nor am I dependent on savings. I just cleared the student loan when I was no longer able to get a mortgage at my income level.

My job while under cost pressures, has had some effect on my personal bottom line, bonuses have dropped by 50% due to a restructure,( it is still only about £100 per month I have lost, I never bank on my bonus). I also have no commute (work less than 10 minutes walk from home). I feel a serious jammy git on that there.

As an assured tenant, I have no mortgage (when mum died, she was a council tenant, I was living with her as her carer, the council took responsibility to re-house me in a one bedroom flat that they have difficulty filling, to free up a 2 bedroom family flat they don't have enough of) .

I already rather go to a festival than overseas for a holiday.

A significant part of my investment for festival non-consumables (tent etc) is already paid for.

The word freelance apparently comes from medieval times when you could hire a knight, and his lance.

Like Lizzim said, I think next year will see more of an effect of the crunch - lots of people already had their savings/tickets/whatever paid for this year, and next year people wil have been living for longer with unemployment/reduced hours, and will have used up more of their savings.
