Hmmm trying not to snigger, if your just going by the bands how is v better?

I can assure you most people don't just watch the bands, I saw bout 5 last and not a headliner.

How can people comment which is better when they havnt been to both!

a couple of stone circle vids.

What I suggest to get the real feel to glastonbury festival is search for vids to stone circle(my favorite part), shangri la, trash city, green fields annd then you will get the real spirit and why glasto is such a wonderful and emotional place to many many people.

bbc coverage mainly just focus on 3 or 4 stages, which is why you get comments like v is better than glastonbury.

bands/artists not up for glasto, of course not there waiting for that career defining moment in playing v.

oh my they were fantastic wernt they, one of them sets that will go down in glastonbury folklore.

I havnt a problem with people saying v is a better festival than glasto, but whent hey cant back it up with any kind of argument its like what u talking about.

so v lovers who think its better than glasto lets have a discussion and sort it out once and for all.

haha this is rather hilarious, i'm all for people having their own opinions but i've been jealously watching the beebs coverage of glasto this year and i have to say i was just blown away at the size of it all. acts to suit all tastes, massive headliner performances, 4 f**kIN DAYS, i mean f**k me V doesn't even compare!

Glasto is an entirely different league of it's own, It's impossible to compare it to other festivals due to it's nature compared to the other festivals, completely different ethos, and yes, a lot of you will say that Glasto arn't money grabbing bastards and everyone else is, but it has to be said that although yes, other festies are expensive etc, if they didn't make a profit, bands wouldn't be payed and would therefore not play (Z008 anyone?), but more than that, the site costs a lot to make, glastos fences cost £1m, so if festies can't make a profit, they won't happen

bit long winded, but ah well

I have been to 11 V Festivals - so will always defend it..... but, there is no way V is better than Glasto.

I have only been to Glasto twice, and V is not even close to it's equal.

I also watched a lot of the coverage from the weekend, and sets by the likes of Friendly Fires, Tom Jones, Blur and The Gaslight Anthem (anyone see the Boss join them on stage - awesome) were fantastic - I cannot believe anyone watching the coverage would come away saying "I'm glad I chose V".

P.S. Did anyone see any of Lisa Hannigan on the Glasto coverage? The most fantisticly melodic voice ever. I really hope she pops up in the Virgin Mobile Tent at V. Stunning.

i have to say its not really fair to compare them, V is what it is, and from what ive heard its somewhat light weight in comparison to the other major festivals, but based on its line-ups in the past and its ability to lure oasis this year, it still is a major festival.

glastonbury however after watching the coverage is sort if hard to some up, just the variety and the caliber of bands playing, just epic.

but since this poster feels compelled to argue in Vs corner with blatant inaccuracies such as kasabian were bollocks and bands didnt seem up for it. well we have to have this pointless debate.

Ive been to one Glasto (99) and about 11 or so Vs.

I know its a cliche to say it but they are completely different experiences, V does not compare with Glasto on any level as a 'festival', on my one visit (not been back as I'm a lazy arse and can't do a 5 day fest), I probably saw far more things of interest that in all my Vs put together. In the old days V made a bit more of an effort, on the 'festival' side of things I remember stilt walkers and other similar things back in the late 90s early 00s, they seemed to bin that all off when the they increased the capacity though.

Musically, I think its fair to compare the 3 main V stages with the Pyramid, Other and New Band tent at Glasto. This Year (as with most) Glasto wins by a street and a half, far more quality and variety that what's on at V.

i have been to V once and never been to glasto but from what i have seen of it on tv i would say glasto certainly looks a lot more fun.

the crowd seem a bit older and more up for having fun. you also get more legends and much more variety.

kasabian looked really good (from the comfort of my armchair!), i'm not sure what you are on about!
