this festival is awful

Hmm, seems a regular occurance on Efests for the Glasto/Reading/V boards to be taking these kinda jabs at each other.

Now I have been to V and Glasto festival wise. For the most part a festival like Bloodstock, Download or Reading several years ago would be perfect for me so quite a few people have found my choices surprising. I do like a fair number of the bands at V and Glasto, this year and last I found Maximo Park, Muse, Alanis, Nick Cave (amazing!), Blur, Neil Young and Stereophonics extremely enjoyable.

At both V and Glasto, one thing I can say is that in general the punters looked and seemed exactly the same kinda people for the most part.

Glasto does have the perfect shell; it's size, all the different areas, things to do, reasonableish prices, friendly atmosphere, nice campfires, etc etc. The music selection is very wide but its achilles heel is naturally it's lack of anything more than medium rock. It seems among some there is almost a phobia of this type of music and the fans it would bring. However I'd put this down to ignorance and the fact that they probably haven't personally met many metalers or alternative types.

Rock Werchter does sound very appealing, as do some of the other Euro Festivals. I'd quite like to go to one on the scale of Glasto ish but where I could see the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Motorhead, Cradle of Filth, Amon Amarth etc. Alongside bands such as REM, Radiohead, Starsailor, Maximo Park, Nick Cave, etc etc.

I love both Glastonbury and Reading. Controversial!

They do different things for me - Reading is about a really good music event, Glastonbury is about chilling out and constantly being wrecked. They are completely different, but it's OK to like both!

If I had to pick though, Glasto would win.

I love both. Get equally excited for both. But Glastonbury is definitely the better festival. Better variety of things to do and things to see. Food and drink is MUCH better. Theres nothing more epic than seeing the sun rise at the stone circle. At Reading its more about watching the sun rise whilst ensuring nobody burns your tent down!

Completely agree with Tristan.

I always have a good time at Reading but bands aside most of the entertainment is self made (at our campsite). Therefore I wouldn't go unless it was free (which for me it is this year), or the lineup was worth the ticket price.

I'm doing Lowlands for a third time this year. Despite the fact that the lineup is poo, the thought of selling the ticket hasn't even crossed my mind; the experience will still be worth it. I suspect the same is true of Glastonbury.

festival republic is a made up thing. you know that right? its really mean fiddler by another name. thats another thing entirely but really, you have bought into both the name and the bullshit they say. what are the 1001 reasons why they couldnt keep the heavy rock day at reading true? there are no legitimate ones really.

the rest of your post read like alphabet spaghetti, sorry i cant be f**ked to try and understand it.

That bands agreed pulled out, that radiohead became available etc.

I know that FR are basically the same company as mean fiddler. I wasnt aware i suggested otherwise.

Douche. Typical glastonbury fanboy, makes up crap about other festivals and acts superior to everyone else. Pathetic.

talking about festival republic like they are a separate entity is buying into their marketing piss tbh

im not a douche really, its just when you post things like it shows you dont know what the f**k you are saying.

ps really and truly, the idea that since one rock band pulled out the only thing they could do was get radiohead, horseshit. they got them on the bill to sell sunday tickets to radiohead fans

can i just point out how crap this festival is..

if you want to go to a real festival then go to glasto

thank you

In my personal opinion and that of many thousands of people from various places, your very much wrong and very closed minded and just plain dumb. Reading is a rock/metal festival whereas glastonbury is a pop festival. These are two very different genres, many of my friends like both i however dont like glastonbury not because its crap as many people obviously like it i just dislike it because i dont enjoy 'pop music'

p.s. your crap kiddo : )
