I got back yesterday after leaving a pretty much cleaned up and sorted site. The difference to last year was vast but we still have a couple of issues we need to sort out to make the event that bit better which I will talk about later on.

Firstly I need to thank everyone who helped make this event happen especially the volunteers that have given up so much of their spare time. The list is always endless and Spike, Sal, Ant, Steve, J, Keith, Jeff, Tim, Scouse, Phil, Lisa, John, Rob, Stacey, Andy, Gillian and all the amazing stewards are volunteers and don’t make a penny out of the event. Due to this we are able to put this event on at a reasonable fee and put on an outstanding line up for everyone that attends.

Thanks for everyone’s amazing support in the last 12 months as this time last year I was going to throw the towel in and changed my mind after reading internet forums and getting loads of supportive emails.

The event is now getting close to what we had in our minds at the very start – this is regarding the layout, numbers and people that attend. Beards will never be very fashionable so we hope the Burberry cap brigade leave us be for a little while longer.

Now for the issues that we are aware of:-

Tent Thieves

This has been the first year we have been directly affected by this and was quite upset by it. We have a positive description and this has been handed to the Police and on the Saturday we increased security heavily to patrol the campsite with around 14 staff patrolling.

We shut the lower gate by the Sauna to allow for easier detection at the top gate and restrict their movements and this appeared to work on the Saturday eve. I do apologise for the gate shutting which directly affected trade to some of our vendors but we needed to act and the plan put forward by security was good. I will be writing to some of these vendors to apologise.

Campervan

This area was bad in 2009 and it does not look like we improved in 2010. This will be the focus of our attention in the next 12 months to get this right and to invest and make better the facilities available to all the campers. Unfortunately a lot of Campers turned up without tickets and took the space of the advanced ticket buyers. I promise I will sort this for next year.

Now to say a huge thank you to all of you for coming and I hope the majority had a great time and I look forward to seeing you over the other festys this summer. Give Watchet and Endorse It a try!!!

All the early bird sales were sold within 1 hour yesterday – This is a BT record and I am quite gob smacked about the reaction we got.

Thanks again

For me it was one of the easiest and most relaxed hassle-free festivals ever. Such a lovely size and scale and no edge at all :P

Spent most of my time in the very wonderful Magical Sounds where Phil even exceeded last years splendid offering! Highlights in there Zetan Spore, Ed Tangent, Lorraine, Banco and many more.

I did see a few bands, Neville Staples and Dreadzone the definite highlights (and of course the Cheeky Girls from a purely train crash watching perspective :P ) but it was also nice to sit back at the camp and hear the main stage from our tents whilst we sat in the glow of that strange yellow thing that appeared in the sky !!!!!

lovely lovely lovely!

This is starting to make me feel a little uncomfrotable really. Is alchemy following BT, or is it getting it's own identity. Is BT following BD in fact? Do you want to go to a few facsimilies of festivals throughout the year or try something new??

mmm

I know, and I was not having a go. My orignal point was in comparing festivals and wanting something similar, and especially Timespeedup comparing BT to Alchemy. At an early stage in your festivals you are just getting your own identity.

It's not a big issue, and I know that many small festivals can be stuck with what bands are on the circuit that season.

This should really be a discussing in the general forum, rather than in your thread. Sorry :P

Belated thanks to Rich, Flip, Lisa, Scouse and all the other hard working organisers/volunteers for giving us such a fantastic time -- we loved every minute, and will definitely be back next year as we've already booked early tickets :P:P

Will be seeing some/many of you at some or all of our other festies : Glasto (working duties now confirmed, see ya in one of the Info Tents), Endorse It, BD, Alchemy :P

ETA to add a PS to the above : I have an actual job now (since 10th May) after 18 months unemployment since moving to Swansea at the end of 2008, so I can properly afford to get to these other festies now withut having to rely on debbie's charity so much, , and I'll have enough to spend on beer and fun too!
