Proposed strike on National Express East Anglia

It looks like there might be a 48 hour strike on the National Express line to Chelmsford on 20/21 August, so it might be fun trying to get to Hylands on the Friday

It was announced yesterday. Hopefully it might get cancelled (although why any of them think they should get paid more than they do already amazes me when the service is so rubbish - So I hope they don't give in and give them a rise ) or they may still be able to run some trains.

I travel to/from Chelmsford/Liverpool St everyday and the trains are packed at the best of times so if there is a reduced service on the Friday its going to be hell if you are trying to travel with a tent etc.

Hmm...well i don't know where everyone is coming from but i will be getting the 33 bus from dunmow to chelmsford then get the free bus that takes campers to the campsite from chelmsford bus park.

Latest news on their website is that they don't expect to run any trains if the strike goes ahead.

Not according to their website. Us commuters have been told we just have to find another way to work for the 8 days that the can't be bothered to turn up!

The four weeks of strikes start tomorrow, hopefully they will cancel them before the 21 August but the latest is that there will only be 1 train an hour from London to Chelmsford, with the last one leaving at 7pm.

On the plus side I now get 3 day weeks for the next few weeks

Coming from Suffolk there's only 1 and hour on a good day.

Hopefully it will get sorted before V day. But not before you can take advantage of a couple of 3 day weeks.

Lol! Where you coming from in Suffolk? I think there are only a couple of Norwich trains running in the mornings As much as I like the sound of 3 day weeks I do really need to go to work so I hope they sort it out too, although I would like to be a fly on the wall at Liverpool St if there is only one train an hour on 21st. Bob Crowe might want to avoid the station that day

Latest news is that the strike is still on this week and that another union is joining them next week. The talks broke down again today so its not looking hopeful at the moment.

As much of a c**t as Monseur Crow is, it's not as if the first strike is aimed to coincide with V weekend.

If it gets as far as a 4th 48 hour strike, the chances are they're pretty serious and feel they've been treated pretty badly.

Not sure how they think they are being done over, they have been offered an above inflation pay increase apparently. My company had a pay freeze this year, and i still have to pay £3k a year for my season ticket on this lovely train line (300 quid up on last year!
