Camper Van Field

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if any of you had (or know anyone who has) stayed in the camper van field and if you have you’d be able to answer a few questions for me.

Firstly, how secure is the area? Can anyone access the field or is it solely for people holding the relevant ticket? Whilst my van will (obviously) be locked, I was wondering if there were many reported break-ins and thefts from this area?

Secondly, what facilities are there in the field? My van has both a shower and a toilet, but obviously, depending on availability of water depends on what I’d look to use (clearly, going without a shower is no hardship, and using the toilet just for ‘liquids’ is another way of preserving supplies, but if water is available, then my little toilet becomes my weekend sanctuary as my morning ablutions can be completed whilst the kettle is on, the bacon is frying and the radio is drowning out any unpleasant noises coming from the bathroom)

Thirdly (and this is more a two-point-five) based on the above, is there a chemical toilet disposal area? Or is it just a case of lashing the contents of the cassette down a portaloo?

Fourthly, how quiet is the field generally? Is it mostly families? Or is it more like Red camping and 24 hours a day? (neither bother me, just want to make sure I know what I’m getting into as I usually camp)

Thanks for reading and any replies would be appreciated

1st :- very secure easier to get into fort knox and there were 24 hr security patrols who I did see escorting some people from the field

2nd & 3rd :- yes there is a water point (big tanker) and there was a place to empty the toilet cassettes

close to the portaloos

4th :- last year it was very very quite most people went straight into there vans, but it was like monsoon season 90% of the time

as above but my words:

1. you need a wrist band to get in the campervan area and having stayed in campervan and tent area's I know they are very strict in comparisson to tent area. we never had or heard of any break in's.

2 and 3. there is clean water and toilets and a pan for emptying the inbuilt toilets some caravans have. no showers on site. you can use the ones in the other campsites though.

4. apart from the loud generators that come with some vehicles, its fairly quiet although you always get a few prats being loud too early. A few kids there but mostly older people.

sure you will enjoy it. ;)
