I've never been to Glasto before and I'm seriously considering travelling down next year. I was just wondering what difference it makes (if any) if you arrive either the Wed or thurs? Do you not get as great camping etc? Do people even arrive on the Fri? Just in case can't get that long off work / flights etc. Any info would be much appreciated.

If you want the pick of the campsite Wednesday first thing is the way to go. Later on Wednesday isn't too bad. Thursday morning it's getting pretty full. Doubt you will get anywhere decent on the Friday, you'll struggle to get camped depending how many tents etc you have.

All I can say , for my first few Glasto's we arrived on Thursday.

This year was my 9th and we were q'ing outside the site 7.30 am Weds.

Get there as early as you can and soak it all up !

This year was my first year going and my friend persuaded me to go on the Thursday because she thought it would be a bit boring going on the Wednesday without any music starting until the Friday. On the Thursday morning, we got on site at about 7:30am from the Bath and West drop off point and there were no lines at the gates and we walked straight in. We did however struggle to find a decent place to camp and we ended up trecking to the Dairy Ground. It is worth going down on Wednesday because we went inside the tent for about an hour and came out again and about 15 tents had been put up next to us and we thought we were on the edge. We ended up having such a good time on the Thursday that we wished we went on the Wednesday and we're definately going down on Wednesday next year.

The travel, M6 crashes and whatever else happened on that Wednesday aside...it would appear that about 75% of the festival turned up on the Wednesday because that IS when you should arrive these days!

This Tuesday rumour is very interesting...looking forward to seeing the endless moans and whinges about whatever gets suggested cos it isnt going to work for lots of us and the rumours that it is a lottery for only 60,000 people...coach goers or something...I dont know...whatever comes of it it is going to throw the cat amongst the proverbial pigeons and leave a LOT of people very unhappy I think.

Arrived (finally) about 10pm on weds night camped where we wanted to and had a memorable day on thursday drinking exploring etc . Thursday was a really good day as you have the whole time to do your own thing without the "pressure" of knowing you need to be at a stage to see a band etc , my advice goe weds and enjoy lost thursday !

Going on the Wednesday almost gives you two festivals. The pre-music bimble days and then a second festival where a few bands play. You pay for both so you might as well experience both.

Also if you are going with a group of friends you've got a much better chance of getting a decent spot together if you go early.
