Charging for shuttle bus from Chelmsford Station?

:angry: I have heard that they are now going to be charging £5 per person per day to use the shuttle bus from Chelmsford station to Hylands Park - what gives?

This has always been a free service since my first V back in '96 - what a rip-off! It is not as if they don't make enough money already with food/drink/ticket price etc.

If true, what does everyone else think of this? They know it is too far to walk easily, so don't think anyone traveling by train will have much choice...

I just saw that on the info, what a cheek! Will many be coming from the station if the Nat Express jokers continue to strike though?

Also, the car park apparently opens at 10am? Does it always say that and open earlier? I am sure we were in there well before 10 last year?

I reckon a taxi would be cheaper. I've live about the same distance from the station as from the station to Hylands and it never costs more than £10, although guess what, the taxi drivers in Chelmsford are also threatening to go on strike!!!

we normally go to staffs and you have to pay £7.50 return for the shuttle buses.

If you were to get a cab and then get stuck in the traffic near the site, then the fare will be a lot more than £10.

The Shuttle Buses are £5 which last all weekend so you can go backward and forward as many times u like. It a quicker way than going by taxi plus it's easyer way of getting home as you don't have 2 walk back out on to the main road 2 find a taxi.

They only sell the shuttle bus tickets in chelmsford not on the festival site therefore you can get to chelmsford for free but must pay to get back!

They had trouble with this the first year they started charging though! The man wouldn't let us get into chelmsford as we didnt have ticket! but how could we have one if they were only sold in chelmsford and hadnt used the shuttle bus yet!
