Boomtown Fair, Bristol

The website says at a hall near Cinderford, they are offering hotel rooms on site so perhaps that narrows it down?

I spoke to the bristol ticket shop about the car park and they said its on site but about a 10minute walk to the campsite. Quite a long walk really if you have heavy equipment, I hope they have wheelbarrows or similar to lend out!

Mark,

you say

"On their website, it doesn't mention a 10 minute walk - it just says you'll need to take a shuttle bus from the car park to the site."

I think you have mis read the website or it has changed (I think it's changed), under the getting there by car bit it recommends for environmental reasons not taking a car at all and using the shuttle bus, I dont think this applies if you do take a car. It also says if you drive to take care when driving near the site, and not to leave the site under the influence of drink.

It's certainly not well communicated which is why I asked someone at the Bristol Ticket Shop, they told me the 10minute walk bit. How they know I'm not sure.

The website does say that it will be well signposted, so I'm not too worried. Surely easier than following dodgy phone directions to a free party in the dark!

Also if it is Speech house, that is only 2.6miles from Cinderford, and looking on the OS map

click the link and then the big Minus button on the right to get a proper os map.

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=36201...searchp=ids.srf

there are about 5 car parks very nearby, if these are owned by the estate perhaps one of these will be used. On the map the surrounding features are called things like Speech House Lake so I'm sure they own all the land and car parks as well. These car parks are only a few hundred metres away max so less than 10mins.

It's all just speculation really, I'm sure it will all be fine!

Brilliant festival. Weather was stunning.

The location couldn't have been better. We went on a couple of treks out into the forest (but we weren't the ones that were shagging, leaving litter and frightening the sheep!) and the ability to relax in the countryside helped you recharge your batteries for the madness of the festival.

Band-wise, I didn't recognise many on the programme, but found loads of stuff I loved. The Tragic Roundabout were particularly inventive - when you're off your head on cider, it takes a long time to realise you're actually listening to 'Masters of the Universe' by Hawkwind played in a gypsy-punk stylee.

So up for it, and the sun came out all weekend. Sat morning at 6am was like 12noon. People were skinny dipping in the lake in the forest, what a beautiful setting.

Security and police were sound as they could be.

Car parking seemed to be a free for all a lot of people just parked in the local forest public car parks. Bands were great as well, the last band on was a mash up, the stage was ramed full of munters all writhing together with the odd trombone sticking out, a real feeling of unity!

Glad you had such a lovely time. I feel like I have to briefly give my opinion in case anyone who knows me thinks I'm recommending it and then goes!

There was a really odd vibe to the place though everyone was really nice (punters and staff alike) it was not a nice atmosphere. I've been going to festivals etc for 10 years big and small and this was just weird and annoying. I really wouldn't say it was a family friendly festival, there was a serious lack of toilets not "filled with shit and out of order" by saturday night. I know a lot of the traders were unhappy. The scheduling of stuff was a bit insane.

I don't want to piss on anyone's parade though so I'll just say I guess it wasn't our thing. I cannot fathom it being anyone's thing though

We're really up for Boomtown Fair this year if we can fit it into our busy schedule (and £££'s permitting), as it doesn't clash with Endorse It this time

The BF website looks as if it's been updated for 2010 ... but can I be reassured that that line up on the A-Z of artists page is the new and updated one for 2010, and not just a hangover on the website from 2009? Cheers.
