The simplest solution is go to glastonbury

That place is the best place on earth.

I still go to V as im just down the road and about 30 of us go so its more the having a good time with friends i go for, because if i didnt go id be sat annoyed as they talk about the laughs they had.

Simple solution to the beer problem if you carnt sneak it in, take more money or drink less. I mean your going to a music festival, its not going to be cheap i mean you go on a night out you can be paying £3.50 a pint but you dont try and smuggle your own booze into the pub (unless your really cheap and try and sneak a bottle of vodka in and buy cokes all night) If your not willing to sneak it in Dont take so much booze to camp and the money saved spend in the arena. Or when trying to sneak it in "if at first you dont succeed try try and try again" Theres more than 1 entrance.

As for for the lineup, the majority of the V line up is aimed at the younger generation. There isnt any other major festival aimed at the young folk who like their pop, r+b ect so V is going to be the festival there going to go to out of all the others, but a certain section of these dont carry the greatest reputation and i dont think they would cange their ways when they go to V.

This was my first festival and it was bloody excellent, the food we had was lush and if a search stops a drunken arse from throwing a full can of beer at someone, then carry on!

I went with no preconceptions, I went to enjoy the experience and the music and the camping. I enjoyed every minute and have already bought tickets for next year. we didn't try and sneak any beer in due to us being chickens but saw loads of people with wine boxes etc in the arena.

We didn't have to queue to get in or out and the organisation at the car park we were in was fine (East 3). We camped in the green area and that too was good. We passed the red areaand that looked awful.

Of course it wasn't perfect but what is? You should try being a footy fan if you want to witness corporate greed at its most evil!!!

The good thing about something like V is we all have a choice, whether to go or not, if you went and were disappointed thats bad, if you enjoyed it, thats good.

Now that you have to pay £50 for a show at an arena, where you watch one band and pay £4.00 for a pint of piss, to get all these bands for the price of £150 is good value to me.

It was my first V and i had an amazing time! Only fault i had was it did seem really crowded in the arena at times but i just brushed that off, i really enjoyed the line up and even faced n-dubz and the like haha!

I will most certainly be going again next year! I wouldn't mind trying other festivals out, i will add that i think V is 1000x better than download, but thats just in my eyes and that

I didn't see or hear of any trouble, maybe i was just lucky then?

Genius suggestion! Write to the papers!!! Love it!

I took my best mate to V this year as she has only ever been to Download in the past. The biggest problem they have is that you have to walk miles from the carpark to the campsite and miles from the campsite back to the arena (next to the carpark) every day!!!

She now appreciates that yeah you have to walk abit at Donington but the festival organisers really do seem to care about the fans and they listen to what people say.

She made me laugh because she was so disgusted with so many things there. And she kept telling us her score "thats 9-2 to Download"!!

I have enjoyed my years at V. And this year was a proper giggle. But I'm with you tinkerbell, I've had my eyes opened (ok I did Download and you did Glasto) and I don't think I'll be going back. Unless I get free tickets of course!! :D

This was our first V and maybe we got luck but thought it was absolutely amazing. OK it was a bit of a hassle doing a 1.5 hour trip in 7 hours but with a few beers and plenty of other goers to have a laugh at it just became part of the weekend.

Camped in Green and had planty of space, lively enough but still managed to get some kip (not sure what the massive bang was on Sun night though).

Managed to get right near the front for Oasis and the Killers without too much shoving and I thought they were both fantastic. There were plenty of other acts I would never have dreamt of seeing that were amazing.

Food was what I expected and not really any different in price compared to other outdoor events, managed several burgers, kebabs and chicken and still kept my guts in.

No probs sneaking in booze to the arena.

Talked to loads of sound people and generally was a really eclectic mix of people up for a good time. To say it appeared a very ligh police presence we hung around well past midnight each night and didn't see any trouble, think how many fights you see on a normal Friday/Saturday night in town.

All in all probably the best weekend I have ever spent, loved every minute of it and can't wait till next year.

Come on lets have some more positive stories.

This was my first experience of a festival and generally I wasn't too impressed.

Overall I enjoyed the music, got to see a tonne of people but more than anything the most disturbing aspect of the whole festival was how vile some of the people attending it were. Sh*tting in the showers? Leaving god knows what in the toilets? Pissing anywhere that took there fancy, including in crowds of people? Is this what all festivals are like?!?!

I can't actually count the amount of times I had drinks thrown over me, or had someone trying to molest me in the crowd. After the first day I stopped going near the front so I could prevent both of these things.

As for the food, it was pretty bad. I understand the cost of the pitches and the increased prices as a result but the quality was severely below par - i didnt eat much because it was all pretty foul - thank god for my jammy dodgers.

I found it surprisingly easy to get alcohol into the arena, i think I was only checked once. We stayed in blue, it wasn't terrible and the people around us were lovely.

I know it sounds like I had a crap time but I did enjoy most of the experience because of seeing the bands I liked etc I just think that certain aspects of the weekend could have been improved. There weren't enough toilets for example - well why not?

I don' think I will go back next year - I've experience it now and if I had to go through the festival exp again I would def go to another one with a better line up to make it worthwhile. There just seemed to be something lacking with V, and I'm still not sure what it is

IMO, the music is what let V down this year.

There were way too many 'has-beens' there, and way too many mediocre / shit bands. Not saying all were shit, but it just seems to be getting weaker and weaker every year in terms of music.

I wouldn't really complain about prices, as we all pretty much knew how much things would be. Same with the traffic. It always has been crap, always will be. Same with Glasto, Leeds / Reading etc, nothing you can really do apart from get up earlier.

Unless the line up is stronger next year, this could well be my last V...

I have a pair of Nike shorts which can hold 12 cans of strongbow, you merely check the staff to see which are checking properly.

On the Saturday I even got in to the arena by showing my right wrist which has my various other festival wristbands on, not this years V festival wristband on & walked into the arena without being questioned!!!

Never bought a pint all weekend, also shop for food in the v Healthy area ace bangers & mash or sausage company or the buffalo burger bar, excellent!!!!

I spent £30 all weekend :P:P

Keep savvy & you won't blow a fortune!!!

By the way to the people who keep mentioning Branson apart from having a share in Virgin Media which sponsors the event he has nothing to do with the festival.

Well, I had a fab time as always! My fourth V Fest and yes it was a bit more crowded than previous years, but I still had an amazing time. It is very different from other festivals but I still enjoyed it and still intend on going again next year (as well as Reading and Download again)

Having just returned from my 5th V festival this year in Staffs I was appalled at how this once pretty good festival has turned into just one huge money grabbing exercise. It seems that all the promoters wish to do is extract every last piece of cash from you witout any real regard to the fact that all we want to do is enjoy the music.

examples.....

What was with the excessive heavy handed searching actually going into the arena ? We'd already been searched for glass bottles etc coming into the site ? They were taking bottles of water and coke that my and my mates had literally just bought from the shop outside off us as we went in, why do they have to do this ? Just plain money grabbing as obviously we have to re-buy the things when we get in. Now I can understand them stopping you with a 6-pack but water? ridiculous.....

Having bought a £5 bacon butty from one of the ridiculously overpriced stalls in one of the campsites I was amazed and shocked to overhear what I think was the owner of the stall complaining to another bloke that one of his staff had been putting 3 slices of bacon into the sarnies and not 2 like he was told....excuse me mate I've just paid a bloody fiver for this...I nearly had a go I tell you....

Theres seriously too many avearage, overpriced food stalls about, churning out garbage youd prob think twice about feeding to your dog....inside the arena theres some good ones but apart from that...well...

It was by far the most overcrowded Id ever seen it too...obviously selling more and more tickets each year and not increasing the capacity of the site in anyway....it took ages to get in between stages just through the sheer volume of people... I wonder if it will increase next year too ?

Plus it seems to be getting more and more full of chavs and idiots intent on being knobheads for the weekend, blind drunk and mashed making a nusiance of themselves inside the arena and in the campsite....

Is it just me on the points above ? All I can say is thank god for The Killers.....they were fantastic sunday evening and really made the weekend.....

Unless the line up is downright amazing next year I'm off to Glastonbury again....even if it is 3 times as far from Manchester.......

I'm jumping in to slate the commercialism...

Went with two mates in 2006 - one and only time I'm ever going - anyway...

It was £40 for a crate of 20 cans!

Instead of buying, we got a taxi to a supermarket in Telford and bought 4 crates (of 24 cans) between us which cost us about £25 each if I remember correctly (including the taxi fare) - if we'd bought 4 crates on site it would have cost the same amount as a bloody ticket. Ridiculous.

Team Orange is growing though, there are lots of people who have joined over the year's that are still coming and we have 10 more new recruits. We buy all our booze before we go and stick it down our oants, up tops etc... yes we did get caught last year which added to the fun as we had to drink 4 litres of wine at the gates Yaaaaay!!! I always nip back to the tne in the day for a drinkie poo's as well, not far too walk,

So stop bloody moaning, if you don't like V, don't fookin Go and stop at home and watch the highlights on TV.

I personally don't like Leeds but have never been on the forum to say that, Opinions are like arse holes everyone has one and some people act like them.
