V FEST - CHELMSFORD NIGHTMARE - OASIS WHO?

I have been going to V Festival for many years – why because I am probably one of the lucky few who literally lives down the road from the festival site so therefore it is a nice way to spend your weekend and still go home and have a shower… That said we have camped one year and to be honest it was not a nice experience and I am guessing that is probably worse now… I do the festival circuit every year: Glastonbury, V and Reading. Glastonbury is by far the best set up – granted their line up has been questionable over the last three years, but V Chelmsford has been rapidly declining ever more so during the latter 3 years. Festival Organisation is in complete disarray: Stages swapping locations one year to the next; toilet availability, excessive queues for bar tokens (3 hours +) and then to purchase a drink at the bar; not to mention the food queues.

The organisers for V FESTIVAL CHELMSFORD should really sit down and think about the layout of the site especially when you are increasing tickets sales year on year… Hello the site can only accommodate X amount of people. Just a little suggestion – relocate red campsite to the other side of the road and expand the festival site…

Cancellation of acts needs to be readdressed – why alter the timings, why not promote an act to the other stage; maybe a band like The Enemy and move Lady Gaga to the Channel 4 stage and maybe there might not have been an issue with crowd control – I guess hindsight is truly a wonderful thing – but guess what Common sense is always breathtaking, usually because it is not exercised often………….

Oasis is a band who still believes in their own hype and that they are in a different league when it comes to performances, crowd interaction and treatment towards their loyal fans!!! Remember the gig with the power cutting out and Noels remarks about the fans and let us not forget the other brothers' scandalous comment on twitter after playing Weston Park.

Don't get me wrong their early music Wonderwall, Morning Glory, Champagne Supernova etc where and are still iconic tracks, but of late...hmmhhh... not really inspirational and have had the impact on their earlier successes...

Unfortunately, and I do not wish to tarnish all Oasis fans - but it is of no surprise the majority of them are just 'Loutish Thugs with an underlining aggressive streak' probably due to excessive alcoholic consumption and not being able to act socially normal and may be just may be they actually believe that they can behave like their idol – ‘Mr Madchester;… Quite a statement to make – however; picture this scene; a group of six lads with an average age of 23 (average IQ – probably 17) hurling bottles of beer wanting to hurt someone in the crowd and finding it extremely funny.. Is this an isolated incident, regrettably not…. The majority of reviews from people who attended V – Chelmsford have stated the aggressive overtures of this year’s festival. No wonder we have many social and domestic issues in Britain.

Personally I wasn't that bothered to see the idiots from 'Manchester' I thought Snow Patrol did an amazing rendition of Wonderwall - my only gripe is that it knocked out my scheduling for the rest of the day and I had to unfortunately share a field with some runts of society who managed to slightly stain my day and probably many other festival goers….

The decision I have to make now is whether I want to go to V next year or just save my money and camp at a rough council estate in the UK with my iPOD with a bottle of White Lightening Cider… Who wants to join me?

I loved V Festival last time I went, dont think there is enough information around directing people as to where they are going and how to actually get out of the festival.

This year was no exception and the new layout sucks. Having the main stage and the Channel 4 stage so far away from each other meant that there was this massive stream of people jostling to get around. Not enough toilets (as usual) really unhelpful staff when you wanted to change up beer tokens (only one of the bar token windows would change them back to cash and that wasnt until everything had finished) and for the whole festival site that was totally inadequate and a rip off.

The whole Oasis thing I had sort of anticipated - stroppy bunch that they are but agree that the organisers could have moved Lady gaga up - the crushing of those at the front was awful and, really, after it was announced 3 times that they were getting crushed they should have taken action.

As for the type of people you get at the festival nowadays - my thoughts are somewhat tainted as I lost/had stolen from my pocket my camera. Nothing was handed in, so someones weekend was made better at my expense.

Dont think I will go to V next year - unless Kings of leon are headlining. Also didnt help that Essex Council were giving tickets to any taxi driver dropping people off at the festival so they had to use all the back routes. Why they couldnt set up a taxi rank with the local cabbies I will never know.

What do you mean by 'the other brothers' scandalous comment on twitter after playing Weston Park' by the way? Noel just said he didn't enjoy it cause he wasn't feeling well and Liam didn't post anything until yesterday when he said he was gutted and respect to the bands that did Oasis covers.

Anyway we did our own 3-day festival this year...

Oasis + Kasabian + The Enemy + Reverend & The Makers

U2 + Elbow + The Hours

Blur + Foals + Crystal Castles + Golden Silvers + Hypnotic Brass

... all for the same money as a weekend at V!

Where did everyone q so long to get beer tokens

I got some on Saturday morning while McFly were on just to the right of the main stage and there was no Q at all

And then on Sunday I made my first stop the Arena (5 mins out of the way) and again walked straight up to the booth

The arena never seemed to have Q's for tokens, unless I was lucky when I saw it

Toilets - terrible Q- but again it's all about timing. I wandered a little further and went to the ones near the campsute entrance - and there was hardly any Q

I think I struck it lucky

We usually buy them first thing in one go but as we wanted to see Starsailor we went straight there then got distracted by other things before buying them. Bought 10 first time, then another 5 sunday but we hadn't run out at that point, just bought them whilst there was no queue. We do the same every year, never had any bother.

It's the same with IOW we buy them all in one go, and if we need more just buy a few on the sunday and we rarely queue there for more than 5 minutes either.
