Flaminglippy
Anybody else think theres gonna be a lack of bands big enough to headline all the major festivals next year?? With The Killers & KOL saying they're taking extended breaks, Blur & Verve unlikely to continue touring, Oasis splitting up (again)...headliners are gonna be think on the ground. Reckon Reading will get Green Day, RHCP & Muse and V will get Arctics/Coldplay (or Radiohead) Edited September 2, 2009 by Flaminglippy
Kevrig
I reckon REM, Scissor Sisters and Kasabian could be in contention for V. With AC/DC for Reading/Leeds?
rockinthecasbah
I'm really struggling to think of anyone who I think will headline V next year. All the obvious headliners have either played too recently (though I guess if they're desperate this wouldn't put them off, Killers only played two years ago,) or are more likely to play R/L. I think they might take a punt on Kasabian to headline.

sjc0102
Good shout on REM...proper festival headliners...think Scissor Sisters would be pretty weak as a headliner (although they were good when they headlined a few years ago). Think Kasabian would be OK as long as the other headliner was a big name...
spwan-of-the-devil
For REM I would be going back to V for a day.. Green Day is the big rumor going around as well..

Scottish Stu
Perhaps a hint of a possible headliner for next year in last weeks NME. This was written about Biffy Clyro in a review of V. "The only dissapointing thing is that they're not headlining(next year)" I would be well pleased if Biffy got the nod to headline next year. Hairywookie
there are plenty of headline acts out there if the organisers use a bit of imagination and cash. Bowie, Chili Peppers, White Stripes, Libertines (who will prob reform), Morrissey, plus the obvious such as Coldplay, Muse, Green Day, Kasabian etc All thats needed is a little imagination and thought.. TheNewUnion
Correct, that's the key. Just a little bit of thought and you can get the headliners that make people sit up and take notice. Glasto with Jay Z for example. V have the cash too so something big could happen but it's V so you always have to temper your enthusiasm a little. Just throwing a names out there Kanye West and Coldplay with Depeche Mode and Jason Mraz on the other stage. Could be anything really Duran Duran and Faithless on the 4music stage, REM and Morrisey headlining. Pet Shop Boys in the arena. Just a random selection of names, pick a couple and prepare to be disappointed! Though sensibly, as the OP said. There are a lack of commercial "Festival Headliners" out there at the moment so it could be time to get creative! cabstar
Kasabian are almost certainties given they are headlining there own tour next year. As for others hmmmmm difficult one.... I think Muse could be a possible headliner unless Leeds / Reading sign them first.. I am seriously beginning to think Dizzee rascal could headline one of the festivals next year, biggest audience at Glasto this year, was also a big draw at V other stage. La Roux possible Other Stage headliner Arctic Monkey must feature somewhere too!!! So Kasabian Muse Dizzee Rascal La Roux Arctic Monkeys or also Depeche Mode as possibilities depending on how much they wish to spend Hmmm like I said really difficult to pick em next year, don't discount Them Crooked Vultures either!!!!
