The Horrors

It worked out well for me in that I got to see both Okkervil River and Efterklang who were 2 of my favourite bands of the fest. Probably would have gone to see the Horrors had they been on - I quite like Fleet Foxes, but didn't want a whole hour and a half of them... Totally agree about a bit of variety being most welcome; by Sunday I had overdosed on twangy guitar and was craving some riffage... Thank you the Pack AD for sorting me out!

First of all I have to say End of the Road is my favourite favourite festival. I have been to all but the first one and they just keep getting better and better.

It seems that a big percentage of those going to EOTR really only like the FF, RF etc. Fair enough, I love all that too but I do think that a bit of variety is vital to stop things getting a bit stale. Having seen Fleet Foxes before I had already decided to give them a miss and was going to see the Horrors. Although disappointed it just meant I got to see all of the Heavy who were just amazing and it solved one of my clash problems !

At the end of the day its each to there own but where else you could see Mumford & Sons, Archie Bronson, Leisure Society,Brakes, Bob Log, Magnolia Electric Company, the Heavy, Low Anthem, Zun Zun Egui, T Model Ford, Wildbirds & Peacedrums, Hold Steady all in one place drinking great beer & cider and eating fab food in such a chilled out lovely setting ? !

Simon made clear at the time that they were asked to appear because he loves Primary Colours, and although I've not got the programme to hand I think he put them first in his list of must-sees. Sometimes it's the bands that don't seem to fit that work out best, and it's not as if EOTR has no history of it - see Zun Zun Egui, or Screaming Tea Party last year - and I doubt the team want it to just be seen as "that alt-folk festival".
