I think the following British bands could possibly headline:

- Gomez

- The Divine Comedy

- Turin Brakes

They would not be first on my list but I think they all have the ability, quality and back catalogue to rock the Garden Stage...not many more fit the bill though i'm afraid...

Top non-British headliners could be:

- Decemberists

- Sufjan Stevens

- Bright Eyes

On the British front...

I think Belle & Sebastian would be brilliant headliners.

And hows about Portishead, Echo and the Bunnymen, Jarvis Cocker, Spiritualized, Ray Davies or even Elbow? Probably pushing it a little with all of those, but perhaps just within the bounds of possibility (particularly DJ "All Thumbs" Cocker).

More "recent" Brit bands that haven't been mentioned - can't think of any.

But really, I just want Chas n Dave. No joke of a word of a lie.

I know I'm almost certainly not going to get to go to EOTR 2010, but in my altruistic way, a couple of suggestions for American bands to headline 2010 (or maybe 2011...?! )

1. Mentioned them before, but with the variety of performance and material and a back catalogue with almost nothing but excellence: EELS

2. Hopefully I won't be shot down for this, but I think DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE would fit very well into the EOTR stable...

I love Eels on some tours, but not others. The With Strings tour was good, but the rocking one that followed didn't get me at all. The Evening With Eels tour last year was perfect. Never thought I'd hear Elizabeth on the Bathroom Floor (and plenty of others from E-SB) until then.

Also, The National YES PLEASE.

Personally I'd have liked to have seen more British bands purely because I like it when I can follow bands which is a bit difficult with those based overseas. Having said that I've just posted a wish list for 2010 and there's quite a few Americans in it.

I wonder whether it's the UK not producing as much music to my taste as once upon a time or is it just that the media in general has developed a predilection for American bands.
