TomNorris(TeamChuck)
I've been to V 7 time's and am quickly formulating plans to go next year as well. I've got a ticket to Glastonbury 2010 which will be my first time there and I'm sure it will blow me away as it is the mother of all festival's, but I am still going to go to V as I have never had a bad time there. It's over priced and it's very commercial, but every person I have met there has always been there to have fun. I've never seen a fight and only ever heard of 1 person being robbed and that was 3 or 4 years back. I've made good friends at the festival and we have met up again in following years to camp together. V may not be as good as Glasto but it doesn't make it bad. It make's it different. What really confuses me is why would someone start a thread in the V forum slating the festival? Surely if you didn't like it that much you wouldn't be going so why even look at the forum? Ringo_Spar
If you can call it a festival , at all. Get yourself to Leeds is much better.

staffsknot
As has been said opinions are diverse - but if you've never been to Glasto you can hardly be an expert on it? Glasto is an experience which is hard to describe, you could miss all the major acts and still have an amazing time and get value for money which is unheard of in most places - but if it rains you will probably be miserable for a bit. As for the whole green preachy bit it isn't and as said its not a hippy recycling event - go you might surprise yourself.

Squall Moogle
I've been to V twice before, in 2006 and 2008. I went to Glastonbury last year and it was much better than V. This year I am doing Download and for me musically it will be better than both
staffsknot
You doing V this year as well Squall or just Download (me too Them Crooked Vultures and AC/DC sold me straight away)? The thing with V is people bash it, but it is a very easy festival with a fair bit of variety in acts (hence why people say its for people who don't like festivals, which is b*lls**t really, if you don't like festivals V can be too much - its radio friendly), I mean Glasto is the greatest festival ever, but you can never take in everything, you can get lost in all the little events and miss things you wanted to see and getting back to the car for something is a pain. Also the nature of Glasto means it sells out very quickly. Leeds less so than Reading still has its 'riots' which are normally the pumped up teenagers on their first adventure away from home and it can get tedious - especially when you have to help your tent neighbour rebuild her tent the next morning because the drunks flattened it. Download is awesome if you like hard rock / metal (which I do) but its all it really caters for so unless all your mates are into it then that rules them out and Donington is bad enough to get out of on race day with a motorbike let alone in a car with 110,000 people bleary eyed from some thrash the night before. So V fills a pretty good role, its central and it plays enough stuff to keep most people happy, it isn't fantastic but it doesn't say it is, yep its expensive but you can bring most of the expensive stuff with you (or smuggle it in) - and its the only festival I can guarantee getting at least a dozen of my mates to go to with their varied musical tastes.
