Where to let the kids camp.

Can anyone recommend a good campsite for the kids (sorry young adults they will be 18 and 16 for this year) as my wife and I are in the campervan field?

We obviously enter via gate c so would prefer them to be on that side of the site in case they get hold of too much cider! Kidney mead looks good to me but can anyone let me know what its like?

Any other suggestions?

Thanking all you kind people!

Not sure there's all that much difference between camp sites really. Kidney Mead seems to have a slightly younger set....but that's just my impression. Thinking about the layout, even if your youngsters were there, you'd still be quite a distance away in campervan east.

I would reckon if you want them to camp at Kidney Mead you'll have to get your skates on on Wednesday. Very convenient location...so it fills up very quickly.

Campervan west seems to be a lot closer to the nearest tent camping zone i.e. Paines, which is slap-bang next to Gate D (and the railway track route...handy for inebriated navigation)

Never bought a campervan ticket. Do you have to choose between east/west?

Intending to get there early weds morning after this year. Took us 4 hours to do the last 8 miles! Going to stay overnight somewhere within 20 miles on the tuesday night.

Had to choose between east or west campervan fields when I purchased my ticket so as we were in east last year thought we'd go for the same.

oops wrong thread....

Errr, personally I think they should camp near whatever stage provides the best music for their tastes., and you need to ensure you have a phone which has coverage - as texts go wildly astray there.

As it's their first - I think it would be a good idea for them to camp near to where they are likely to end up at the end of the night. Are they more likely to end up in shangri-La or the dance village? would you want to meet up with them at the end of each evening? - If so then consider campsites near the campervan field.

The other thing to consider is are they the kind of kids who will stick together? I've known families where the oldest one has headed off not to be seen for days leaving the younger one to do their own thing - which means they tend to hang out with their parents, if this is the case, then perhaps camping with you would be the better option or the youngest might feel at a bit of a loose end - on their own.

If your campervan is big enough, this won't be a problem if they want to come back 'home' if, perish the thought, it all gets too much, if it's not that big - it might be worth taking a small spare tent for them, and put it up beside the campervan - just in case they need it.
