Campervans in the Car Park

Hi there

i am hoping to continue my holiday after the festival, spending the rest of the week campervanning. i don't want to sleep in the van at the festival, i'd rather camp 'inside the fence' so as not to miss out on any of the action!

does anyone know if they let you park a campervan up in the car parks? as i said, i don't want to sleep in it, just leave it somewhere safe so that i can head off on my travels on the monday.

thanks

i should think so.

vans and minibusses get herded into their own separate carpark so the stewards can make sure there's nobody sleeping in them.

i think they might be a bit skeptical of your story though, thinking you just want to avoid buying a campervan ticket.

maybe you could show them your tent, and leave the van with the curtains open so they can see in at noght to check it.

thanks PezzyPops!

it's actually good to know that they check on them at night as i was slightly worried about leaving the van in the car parks (i know, no reason for there to be any greater risk than to a car, but it cost rather a lot more than my car!)

i was considering buying a campervan ticket and leaving it up in the campervan fields near friends anyway, for the extra security (it will have some of my holiday stuff in it) - may still do this...

cheers for the info

Just to say this is a load of pish.

I took my van down in 2007 before I had converted it and began using the campervans fields. WE drove into the west car parks and were parked up in the regular car park (W22 I think) next to all the cars. When it rained all weekend and we eventually packed up on the Sunday afternoon we went back into the fest and after the Who went back to the van, kipped in the car park and left at 6am on the monday morning. Albeit the conditions that year were really bad but if you have a van it'll more than likely end up in the same car park as everyone else unless your going to the campervan areas.

We've parked our campervan in the ordinary car parks and slept in it on a couple of occasions during very wet Glastos. Last time was in 2007. We are very discreet and do not make a sound - completely silent - and don't use lights. So far we have never been approached by security.

It's not much fun, but it has been a life-saver when it's been tipping down.

And personally I NEVER leave the curtains in the van open, whether I am sleeping in it or not. Stuff gets nicked in the car parks and I'd rather that no-one could see the expensive fittings, thank you very much!
